By tradition, we review the best New Year Cosmetics collections - today they are made not only by the luxury, but also by the mass market, as well as by luxurious limited editions that delight young progressive brands. It is up to you who gets more creative, but we warn you that the number of glitter in the Christmas products of the sample in 2018 can cause your eyes to ache.

Concepts of products and collections of the famous make-up artist Pat McGrath never failed to minimalism, and the festive edition of Opulence is definitely the apotheosis of glam aesthetics. This time, the inspiration for packing was precious stones: pink sapphire, aquamarine, and ruby — and the contents inspire thoughts of treasure chests. The collection includes three palettes of shadows, iridescent with glitter, with which Pat McGrath Labs can work better than most: the "sapphire" Subversive Metalmorphosis did not even put matte shades. And in a limited edition, nine matte lipsticks came out in the most successful shades from previous editions - both neat and fatal dark ones.

It is difficult to find a New Year's make-up edition, in which there will not be even a drop of gold (which most likely pleases us), but this year not only noble and not very precious metals, but also complex dark and light shades reign in Chanel. The main object of desire is the palette of La Palette Caractère lipstick, which has every chance of being used up to the end: it is a thoughtful set of five colors with a red subtone, from orange to brown. Another amazing rarity is the duochrome shade of the Le Vernis lacquer (under the name Opulence). Another (of course) radiant and bold collection has expanded the rows of Illamasqua products - while you can admire them on the brand’s website, you can try to order individual copies on Lookfantastic, but it is even more convenient to wait for the appearance of a limit in the L'Etoile network, which exclusively represents the brand in Russia. Connoisseurs of the bold British company will surely want to add new highlights to their collection: 10th Anniversary Beyond Powder come out in two Frost and Electric cosmic shades. And here is another nice collection for those who want to smear glitter from head to toe or to give a friend a nice beauty-gift, but are not ready to spend a tangible amount of money on the next merry "glitter". The budget brand Catrice did not shake a special originality and released for the holidays line of shining products. A cool universal remedy that will be useful for any reason is the Glitter Storm Gel Highlighter gel highlighter: it shines beautifully with light pink gold, is well distributed over the skin, including over the eyelids, and mixes well with other products. Surprisingly, the Dolce & Gabbana New Year's collection, made quite traditionally for the holidays (the main colors are red and gold for years not coming out of winter fashion), looks even fresh against the other collections that create the feeling that our truck has finally turned over holography. However, gold is always by the way, and the brand has a taste for the most advantageous combinations of shades and textures: we advise you to hunt for your lips with a slight golden glow with Classic Cream lipstick in Baroque Gold shade and nail stickers with the effect of aged gold, which are also very comfortable application.

This year, we were lucky with the ambitions of budget brands - however, the Italian brand Kiko Milano makes New Year collections for a long time and regularly. Products that are not typical for holiday limits, a car and a small cart: among them are several shades of glitter with attached glue for it, delicate blush and highlighters and shining shadows (we recommend choosing bright blue or copper — well pigmented and with a neat shine). Most of all we like the Liquid Highlighter compact liquid highlighter: it is from the discharge of products for natural makeup, the small golden shimmer is not at all annoying, and the pipette allows you to hygienically apply and mix it with other means.

And finally, we praise the smallest, but not at all the “poor” collection of New Year's makeup, Clarins: since last year, the brand began to actively develop decorative product lines and most often they are very worthy. Poudre Illuminatrice Teint et Décolleté face and body highlighter is a standard of natural, but dull shine, shimmer poured in limited shades of the best-selling Éclat Minute lip oil.
