On-Off creative director Liza Melnikova about favorite outfits

FOR RUBBER "WARDROBE" we take pictures of beautiful, original or strangely dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell stories related to them. This week our heroine is Lisa Melnikova, creative director of the On-Off store.

Since childhood, it was important to me that I was wearing. My mother, who always followed my appearance, influenced me greatly - in general, the interest in clothes passed on to me by inheritance.

I do not have a lot of clothes and there is not a single thing that would hang around in the closet - everything can be mixed with each other and used in different images. I love functional models and do not share bows for evening and everyday. I love the old Margiela collections, I always try to find them at various online sales. Each of their work is timeless, and it seems to me that I will wear their clothes for the rest of my life.

I work as a creative director in an On-Off women's clothing store. We represent Georgian and Moscow designers, so that their things naturally fell into my wardrobe - and became one of my favorites. Thanks to the profession, I made friends with many designers, and now we often collaborate - and the things that they did especially for me, even got into the main collections. I come across a different reaction to my style: not everyone understands why I “spoil” myself with things with an oversized cut and voluminous shoulders, but I am glad that there are people who like it.

Graviteight shirt, Acne Studios jeans shorts, Maison Margiela boots, Khoshtrik mono-ear

I was inspired to buy a shirt by the film of the 90s “Stupid”, in which the heroine wore transparent blouses over white sports shirts.

Jumpsuit and ankle boots - Situationist

We were on purchases in Tbilisi, and when I got into the Situationist showroom, I immediately realized that it was “my” brand.

Jacquemus top, Maison Margiela suspenders

Both things bought on sale in TsUM. I love their sales, they always have good concise things. On the hanger, they do not attract much attention, and only when you put them on, you understand how beautiful it is.

T by Alexander Wang dress, custom made apron, Acne Studios glasses

We made an apron with a friend-designer. The prototype was an apron, which we saw in a documentary film - in those in the 50s women worked at one of the garment factories in America. In the summer I wear it with a light dress, and in winter - with wide trousers and a turtleneck.

T-shirt took from a friend, a sundress and socks - Comme des Garçons, sandals Damir Doma

Sometimes I like naive, "school" images. It's funny that people get lost, not knowing how old you are. By the way, I saw this sundress both on a girl of ten years old and on Renata Litvinova.

T-shirt 6397, jeans borrowed from a friend, Damir Doma bag, second-hand glasses

Jeans took to wear a friend: it seems to me that they sit better on me. Actually, I fell in love with "boyfriend jeans" even before they became fashionably tight. As for shirts and T-shirts, I also love male models more.

Longsleeve Vetements, Khoshtrik

I am interested in the things that Demna Gvasalia does, but I myself would hardly have begun to spend such serious money - even if I could. I think this is, above all, good styling, not design.

Situationist jacket, swimsuit from a swap

I bought a swimsuit on the archive-sale. I think it’s a good idea to buy old things from friends and give them a new life. Well, it is always nice to see your things for those who need them.

Glumkimberly dress, Maison Margiela boots

The dress was made by my friend-designer, who works on the Glumkimberly brand. This is literally the first thing from his collection.

Perfume Comme des Garçons Blackpepper

Khoshtrik and Vak mono-earrings

Acne Studios and second hand glasses

Zenology body balm
