Inspiring Instagram hobbies: From floristics to calligraphy

TODAY WE GO IN INSTAGRAM LITERALLY FOR EVERYTHING: Not only look at the lives of your friends, but also to learn the news of your favorite places or look for inspiration for everyday life. It’s not for nothing that accounts like the one that potter Eric Landon leads are so popular: besides the fact that it’s just beautiful, someone else’s example unobtrusively reminds us that we all have many different interests that we shouldn’t abandon. Are you looking for a new hobby, are you thinking of mastering a new profession, or want to see more of what you are doing and so on? We have chosen more than two dozen beautiful and useful blogs about embroidery, woodworking, baking, and many other things that will decorate any ribbon.

Ceramics

Ceramics today is experiencing a wave of popularity, and the stronger the interest in the work, the more very beautiful blogs appear, demonstrating the skills of their authors. The choice is endless: if tortus_copenhagen with its meditative videos is unique in its approach, then just a selection of beautiful works is more than enough. Those who want even more fascinating videos, soothing not worse than valerian, should pay attention to the blog of the Japanese potter Haruya Abe. The ceramist shows not only his creations, but also the way he handles patterns on them and gives them geometric shapes - and this is amazing. But there are many other worthy artists: from the Argentine, decorating their work with people, to a blogger from Kansas, engaged in small ceramic products.

Embroidery

Embroidery, especially satin stitch, over the past couple of years has finally shaken off its reputation as an occupation for grandmothers (as if there is something bad in it) and has become a much-loved hobby of people much younger. Maybe this contributed to the popularity of stripes, and maybe its availability. Of all possible hobbies, embroidery requires the simplest equipment: a bunch of threads and actually what you will do with it. Today everything is embroidered on everything - for celebrities on sweatshirts, and just on dresses, brooches and even tennis rackets. Everyone chooses the degree of conservatism himself: someone likes the fauna of England and portraits of domestic animals, and someone - pro-feminist embroidery and sketches about travel.

Calligraphy

Calligraphy and writing are the cornerstone of western blogs. No design can do without complex inscriptions, whether it is about the blogs themselves, fashion signs, invitations or packaging. It is quite convenient to learn such skills today - the Internet is full of lessons on how to learn to write not just beautifully, but also truly skillfully, not only in Latin, but also in Cyrillic. There are thousands of lettering masters on the hashtag on Instagram, so everyone can choose their favorite to their own taste. At the same time, the real stars are those who live to show their art, as does, for example, the illustrator Seb Leicester, who became famous in social networks thanks to his ability to perfectly copy logos of famous brands.

Bakery products

Highly artistic cakes and pies are not necessarily hyper-realistic creations from fondant, the craving for which sometimes drives pastry chefs and customers somewhere on the dark side of power. Many pastry chefs and bakers approach the design differently, and it turns out to be no less inspiring, even if they are looking at a not-too-edible multicolored frosting. For example, a confectionery from St. Petersburg specializes in cheesecakes decorated with berries that look so beautiful that even you feel sorry for them. Pies, in turn, is also not such a mundane dish, as one might think. Decorations of the top layer of dough are not obliged to be limited to the usual grille. Many people use not just special rolling pins, which give a pattern to the cake, but also manually cut out floral ornaments that successfully rhyme with the filling.

Floristics

Perhaps floristry is not the most accessible of the classes, but, however trite it may be, even the simplest flowers transform any space. You can search for inspiration and take note of techniques from flower shops, as well as independent designers and enthusiasts of their work. And although most of us do not have our own garden, there is a way out here. Cacti and succulents, which are sold almost in supermarkets today, are also very beautiful, and you can easily make a bouquet from them that, with proper care, will never fade. Many do not hesitate to brag about their succulents on instagram, and there you can not only choose a new green friend, but also get useful information about different types: what kind of lighting they like, how to propagate them, how often to water and how to recognize alarm signals.

Keeping a diary

There are reasons to keep a beautiful journal or moleskin mass: you can gradually learn to draw, keep a useful diary of affairs in the #bulletjournal system or collect scrapbook from trips - and all this can be turned into real art. Here it is just necessary by the way lettering from the paragraph above. At first, starting a journal or diary is a little embarrassing, especially against the background of all the beauty in pinteres and instagram, but the main thing here is not to be afraid. This is your personal space, where such a thing as a mistake simply does not exist. Experiment and do as you like, using someone else's example solely for inspiration, and not as a literal guide to action. The magazine is an ideal tool to break away from the Internet (as long as you do not need to put the result there). Someone combines records with sketches from trips, someone beautifully plans his tasks, and someone just plays to give his head a break.

Woodwork

Working with wood from all the listed hobbies is the most difficult to access. It is not so much a matter of tools. To easily take on a variety of joinery and carpentry projects, you need a whole workshop, just like the youtube master Frank Howard. But also those who are just starting out have something to do. Small work on wood, such as milling patterned spoons, albeit not easy, but does not require huge machines, and there is something to strive for. It is also nice that both men and women are famous for instagram wood work. One of the most successful is Ariel Alasco, a master of decorative items who deals with large patterned panels, furniture and dishes.
