Link of the day: Foreign Ministry instructions for Russian tourists abroad

IN A NEW HEADING "LINK OF THE DAY"We will share with you loud publications on a variety of topics that deserve attention. Today we advise you to read the Foreign Ministry’s recommendations to “citizens traveling on a foreign trip”: the document to which the journalist Anna Semida drew attention to the rules of conduct that must be observed “in order to prevent unwanted incidents” in different countries of the world.

The list also contains absurdly obvious rules, such as “do not abuse alcohol”, and very specific indications concerning certain countries: for example, in Kenya tourists are advised not to call the locals “monkeys”, in Sudan - not to compare men with women, and in Finland - Do not laugh at names resembling Russian swear words. The text style is, on the one hand, very official (what some “citizens of Russia” are worth), and on the other, the most politically incorrect (LGBT representatives consider the recommendations as a source of danger and are called “blue” and “unconventional”).

Canada, where same-sex marriages have been legalized for a long time and serious “obsession” on gender equality is observed, is not the best place for retelling “greasy male” jokes and jokes about “non-traditional”. In addition to public censure, in large metropolitan areas with compact living "blue" (in particular, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal) there is a risk of running into a punishment in the form of a fine and even a term under the serious article "Hate crime".

France: Such behavior towards women, which can be perceived as a manifestation of "sexism", should be avoided. It is advisable not to respond to members of the LGBT community, not to address them with offensive words or gestures. It is not recommended to demonstrate disregard for the French language, trying to “interpret” the French in Russian, and be outraged at the same time that they do not understand you.
