Angie Pendey, artist
FOR RUBBER "WARDROBE" we take pictures of beautiful, original or strangely dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell related stories. We are also changing wardrobe furniture of people we photographed two years ago for Look At Me, - since then they have changed a lot. The heroine of the new material is a Dutch artist with South American roots Angie Pendey, who supports the marks of her friends and considers her mother to be a role model in fashion.
Jacket Part Two - a gift for the boyfriend's mom
My mom and boyfriend similar tastes and views on clothes. She has greatly influenced my sense of style over the past 10 years. I bought glasses from a young brand at Koningsdag - a celebration in honor of the founding of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The sun was shining, everyone was having fun, and the purchase was relevant and successful.
Earrings from New York, Laura Dols blouse
I was invited to a friend's party, which, by the way, is a very cool artist. She somewhere found these earrings and gave them to me. They are from the Fula tribe in Africa, and in fact it is their traditional decoration: the size of such earrings there indicates the position of a person in society. I bought a blouse in a nice vintage shop Laura Dols, when hanging out at a cafe nearby. I consider it one of my favorites.
Zara bag, COS shoes
I've been looking for a bag of this shape for a long time. and was very glad when I found her at a sale in New York. It fits everything, and it is convenient to hang it on the handle of the bike. I worked in the store network COS. We were not allowed to buy things that just came to the store, so I waited a long time for the opportunity to purchase these shoes, and thank you for not selling my size. Wore them to graduation at the Rietveld Academie.
Suit COS
Costume bought while working at COS. This step was pushed by a colleague who told me that I looked in him like a mixture of black Coco Chanel and a mentor from the movie "Karate Kid". I liked the concept, so I couldn't help but buy a suit.
Blouse vintage ring Invalid Design
I bought this blouse in Antwerp, when she studied at the faculty of fashion design in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. I found it in the vintage shop T2, which literally saved my wardrobe at the time. They sell cool stuff for a couple of euros, so everybody knows them. I bought the ring from a friend, it is beautiful, and you should always support friends. It is made of copper and stone, the stones are all different, and a description is attached to each ring.
Prada shoes
I bought shoes at a vintage online store, I like the androgynous style in them. They have a strange color, reminiscent of human skin, which attracts me even more. Socks make them silly and funny, and this combination reminds of schoolgirls in loafers with white socks.
Mother's skirt, wreath Elke Helen Smiths
My mother wore this skirt before I was born. When moving from Suriname to the Netherlands, she brought her with her. Mom is always fashionable and stylish, like me, loves androgyny and playing with gender. It most strongly influences my attitude to my appearance. The flowers that are woven into my hairstyle were made by my friend Elke Helen Smits, the artist. She sold them during Koningsdag, I got one. Now this is part of the interior of my living room.
Zara dress
Dress bought in Zara when I went on vacation to Suriname for the first time in many years. It was hot there, and I wanted to wear something light, but not beyond decency. For some reason, I buy things in one color palette, so this jacket fits perfectly to the dress.
