Sleep well: Condom Guide
The condom has been carrying the banner of the most affordable for hundreds of years. and universal contraception, but not everyone knows how to use it correctly and choose the most suitable of all modern ones. In honor of World Condom Day (passed yesterday) and Valentine's Day (today), we have prepared useful instructions - with rules whose knowledge will save you from disappointments and unpleasant surprises.
Condom - not absolutely reliable contraceptive, although its Pearl index (efficacy index) is very high: if used correctly for a year, pregnancy occurs only in two cases out of 100. If it is incorrect, it grows to 15%, which is more like a tape measure, and not a means of protection. But condoms are affordable and act instantly, unlike, for example, hormonal contraception.
The second significant advantage of condoms is that it is a barrier means of contraception, which rather effectively (again, if used correctly) protects against diseases. The causative agents of gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis and HIV are larger than the pores of latex and polyurethane, of which condoms are usually made, so the risk of infection is drastically reduced. Genital herpes, syphilis, and HPV can also manifest themselves outside of a penis rolled up in a condom, so that protection from them is lower.
How to use condoms correctly? Wear a condom only on a more or less erect penis. Pinch the tip to let the air out of it (then this space will be filled with sperm). Roll out the condom on the penis (then you definitely will not put it on the inside). Always change the condom if you decide to change the place of penetration, as well as after each ejaculation or if the condom is broken.
Many people are embarrassed to buy condoms because they are associated with riotous sexual behavior. But in fact, we should always carry them with us and use them for sex by default - until the moment when the relationship turns into monogamous and you both do not pass all tests. There are a million HIV-positive citizens in Russia, many of whom have no idea about their HIV status. So condoms protect us from the consequences of someone else's ignorance, and do not label our levity.
Condoms should be used for any type of sex, including anal and oral, because infections are poorly versed in the types of mucous membranes encountered and willingly settle almost everywhere. For example, up to 10% of Americans treated for STIs were diagnosed with gonorrhea in the throat. For oral sex produce flavored condoms to make it more fun, but this, of course, is not necessary. For cunnilingus, there are rarely special wipes sold in Russia, but you can simply cut a regular condom.
Does this mean that condoms are not needed during marriage or regular relationships? Is not a fact. Hormonal contraception is not suitable for all women, and if children are not planned in the near future, condoms are the safest option. In addition, condoms will do as long as one in a pair treats inflammation of conditionally pathogenic flora. When taking teratogenic (causing embryonic development disorders) medications, it is recommended to use two types of protection for a reliable contraceptive effect, one of which may well be a condom.
Why do men so often have to persuade the use of condoms, although they also help them not to become infected and not to be the father of an unplanned child? One of the popular reasons - problems with erection. Although studies show that complaining about the symptoms of erectile dysfunction, they appear without condoms, and the rest is OK. That is, the problem is not the need to dress for sex.
Another popular explanation for not using condoms is reduced sensitivity. However, in fact, it is a reason to revise the usual brand and size of condoms, and not to abandon them altogether. About 20% of men use condoms, which they are small (because they will have to look for suitable ones by size). About 30% - on the contrary, too large. That is, about half of men are mistaken with the size and feel discomfort, including due to the desire to buy packaging with the inscription XL. It's time to measure the length and diameter of the erect penis and choose suitable condoms - for example, for a length of 16 cm and a diameter of 4.7 cm, for example, such My.Size will do.
What to do if the size is chosen correctly, and the sensations are still not the same? Surveys show that the use of condoms does not affect orgasm, arousal and general pleasure. But for those who insist on a sharp decrease in sensitivity, there are super-thin and almost weightless condoms, for example, such a Sagami with a thickness of 0.02 cm with a ribbon for a quick donning. They are often made of polyurethane and at the same time are a response to latex allergy, which is found in both men and women. However, the development of new, more satisfactory materials and technologies for the production of condoms continues, for example, they are funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Condoms of market leaders (Durex, Contex) are often forged, so buy them in large retail and pharmacy chains and large well-known sex shops. Such a purchase itself is similar to the work of a condom: it will not protect you from problems by 100%, but it will significantly reduce the risk of running into a counterfeit. For latex condoms, buy a water-based lubricant: it is safe for latex, promotes female pleasure and reduces friction, preventing tearing. The Swedish company Lelo recently released condoms from hexagonal insulated sections: if one breaks, the rest will stay in place. But Rostest certification they have not yet passed and officially in Russia is not yet sold. But there is a way to have fun when buying - to buy Amber Rose condoms or in comic packaging. On US sites, they must be certified by the FDA, otherwise their role is exclusively souvenir.
