Bookmarks: Neural network that draws terrible identikits
IN RUBRIC "IN BOOKMARKS" We talk about websites and online services - both useful and completely useless, but funny and amazing - which, in fact, should be added to favorites or added to the RSS-feed.
pix2pix
Participants of the pix2pix project presented their new development - a neural network that draws realistic portraits based on sketches of faces. In the future, this technology can be useful for police officers or animators, but so far the results are far from ideal: the program has learned how the eyes and nose look, but it almost always has problems with the mouth and hair, and the resulting portraits look more like characters from horror movies than ordinary people.
You can test the neural network on the project site (a couple of months ago, pix2pix showed a similar tool for drawing cats - the results were no less horrific).
