Russian brand mardo._: Comfortable dresses, denim breeches and cool costumes
IN RUBRIC "NEW MARK" we present young designers and tell them where and why to buy their things.
Before opening his own brand, designer Andrei Mordovin studied marketing at the university. According to him, he always dreamed of making clothes, but he doubted his abilities. Everything changed when a young man was invited as a designer to a Russian brand. Having worked there for a year, Mordovin realized that fashion attracts him most of all. After university, he applied to the master's school design school "towers." Andrei admits that the value of HSE in his life is hard to overestimate: "I not only gained knowledge and experience, but also made many useful contacts, without which, probably, nothing would have happened."
In parallel with his studies, Andrei has been working with the Lumpen agency as a model for a year. According to his confession, this also helps in working on the brand: “I research the industry from the inside, learn how to create clothes from foreign brands. When I worked for Vetements, I talked to the designers of the brand for days, asked them questions, showed sketches and asked their opinion, it's a very valuable experience. " Lumpen models are also participating in the mardo._ filming.
Andrei admits that he didn’t intend to create a full-fledged brand right now: “I’m twenty-three years old, I don’t have enough money and experience, I just graduate from the university and three months ago I didn’t understand what I want to do.” Nothing would have happened if it were not for Mordovina’s curator Katya Pavelko. "My collection is a graduation project, but at one of the consultations at the stage of sketching, Katya said that everything works out for me very worthily and it needs to be brought to the market somehow." Now the brand will be presented in the Dear Progress Showroom in Paris - a project aimed at supporting young designers.
The concept of the brand mardo._ - the creation of clothing with a "social context". For example, the first line is devoted to the disarmament of the planet, it is called so - DISARMED. The collection includes intricate, but wearable, sweatshirts, shirts, denim breeches with chains and double-sided vests; Unisex models look not only relevant, but also comfortable. Andrei plans to devote the following work to erasing intercultural boundaries: “These are the things that I do for my peers, I want them to be comfortable in my clothes, to feel confident in it, and also to remember that the main thing in the world is love, friendship and unity.
