Home life: How to extend the life of your favorite sneakers

Dasha Prince

Shoes, perhaps, one of the main articles of consumption every inhabitant of the metropolis: the acquisition of new couples every season with or without it has become commonplace. To try to abandon the endless purchases of necessary and unnecessary couples, we suggest that you seriously think about caring for and taking care of your favorite couples that you already have.

Thanks to the comfort of the sneakers from the once exclusively sports shoes finally turned into everyday shoes. They go to work, to clubs and restaurants - in a word, it is already becoming difficult to say where a person in sneakers can be kept out. In the fall and winter, almost no one also refuses to sneakers, replacing the frankly light options for pairs with thick soles of more rigid materials. But what to do if after a month of wearing socks sneakers lose their original appearance? Think about what you are doing wrong. It is worth noting that there is a big difference, whether you care for sneakers from a combination of suede, textiles and synthetics or for options from smooth leather. Care and the degree of its complexity will no doubt be different.

There is a small set of rules that applies to any shoe in general, including, of course, sneakers: do not wear it every day, no matter how perfect and beloved it is. Moisture accumulates in sneakers even in perfect dry plus 20 - what can we say about the November weather. Hoping that overnight the steam dries completely, not worth it - it is simply impossible. Because of everyday wear, shoes stretch and lose their shape. Sneakers, like any expensive or cheap shoes, need a good strut; The best are still considered to be those of cedar or beech (few people know, but they play the role of an antiseptic). Wood absorbs moisture best. But in the worst case, after you came home and cleaned your shoes, fill it with paper or newspapers, but without undue diligence - so that the material does not stretch. To some it may seem unusual, but the fact is that it really can prolong their lives.

Up until the moment when the snow falls, no one hesitates to wear fabric sneakers. Perhaps this is the easiest shoes in terms of care. Teach yourself to gently wash them with a rag and soapy water after each exit to the street. Dirt scratches the surface and can be absorbed in such a way that nothing will help. Sneakers made of synthetic materials can be washed using the same solution, cloth and a regular toothbrush with a soft bristle. In no case do not wash the sneakers in the washing machine - even those that are completely from textiles. It kills them. It would seem an elementary rule, but every time in any company there is a nerd who tells how much it makes his life easier. In the machine can only be washed insoles and laces. Also, we do not advise you to completely immerse the shoes in the water - any firmware at some point will not survive.

The most common mistake when drying sneakers - put them next to the battery or heater

Owners of leather shoes, especially white, face more difficult care. The most frequent problem with leather sneakers in the realities of the Moscow off-season - cracks in the skin. The saddest thing is that it can affect both cheap and expensive couples. If this happened due to the fact that the sneakers were soaked with a mixture of wet water and reagents, help after this is difficult. Therefore, it is important to always use a water-repellent spray before going out, which is often ignored by everyone. The most common mistake when drying sneakers - put them next to the battery or heater: the skin can also crack, and the shoes themselves - lose their shape. Absolutely all sneakers are preferable to dry in a dry room at room temperature.

In the care of leather sneakers can be divided into two important stages - exactly the same as in the care of the face: cleansing and nutrition. They do not need to do often. Food is not needed more than a few times a season. Before applying the cream shoes must be cleaned, and the laces - pull out. It is important to make sure that they are dry. It may be enough just a damp cloth (if the skin is very thin - dry), and you may need a special cleanser. Next, using a small brush, apply an air conditioner or cream. Using circular motions, spread them all over the surface and wait until it dries completely. If the whole process seems difficult to you, you can always seek professional help. Such cleaning can cost from about 1000 rubles, and can help with this in any large network dry cleaning.

Care for leather and suede shoes is different. Suede is not the best idea for the Moscow autumn, and it does not matter, talking about sneakers or shoes. Although all manufacturers like to emphasize that there are no bad materials, there is poor care, suede in rainy weather can be unpredictable. For her, dry cleaning is preferable - water can leave stains on the shoe. You can remove the dirt, either again with the help of a professional shoemaker, or with a special brush or eraser, such as ECCO or Saphir.

A separate conversation - cleaning the soles. If soap and a soft cloth do not help here, you can try to get rid of the stuck stones with a brush and needle. If you want to restore the whiteness to the sole by any means, soak a cotton pad in nail polish remover and wipe the sole with it - perhaps this will help get rid of the dirty yellow color. It is worth noting that this method is quite radical and can lead to damage to the soles, so it is important to test it in a small area.
