The queer bible
The Queer Bible, contrary to the title, is not a queer Bible presentation, but a collection of stories about important members of the LGBT community: from Lavern Cox and Soko to Prince, Robert Mapplethorpe and Frieda Kahlo. Each essay and interview is accompanied by an illustration made by a young queer artist. According to the creator of the project, Jack Guinness, he was inspired by Sam Smith: during the Oscars, the musician said that he was the first to get a statuette - although this is not true. Guinness decided to make an online guide on LGBT culture and tell the story of the community through portraits of heroes interesting to him and his friends. Perhaps that is why many stories turned out so personal - an essay about Robert Mapplethorpe, for example, was written by his former partner.
