The scandal around Ashot Gabrelyanov’s MakeApp, which “removes” makeup from girls' faces, is gaining momentum in the network. The purpose of the application, which the entrepreneur calls "a nightmare for instagram girls and beautiful boys," is to show how girls "look in reality" without makeup. Users of social networks found the project outrageous and accused Gabrelyanov of misogyny and racism - as it turned out, the application not only specifically “disfigures” women, but also significantly lightens the color of their skin and presents them in the most unattractive light. “It’s ridiculous that you can’t guess that women haven’t naturally purple eyelids,” one of Twitter users wrote. The editors of Business Insider called the entrepreneur "propagandist" at all (which is why Gabrelyanov intends to sue the publication).

The entrepreneur denies all the accusations - as Medreza told Gabrelyov, the indignation is “sucked from the finger” and comes only from “belligerent-minded feminists who work in the media”. Moreover, Gabrelyanov believes that the project can help combat trafficking in human beings: “Often parents cannot identify their daughters due to their bright make-up. We hope that our application will help families and authorities to identify girls who have been abducted” he. It is obvious that in everyday life the idea of ​​“exposing”, namely, the authors of the application choose such a mission, is offensive and calls into question the “authenticity” of a woman's appearance, allegedly only “without make-up” is she “real”. Gabrelyanov proposes to use the filter on "instagram-chicks", meaning that with the help of bright lipstick, the owner's face is sold "more expensive". Whether it is worth explaining that to make up or not is the right and choice of every single person, a way to express oneself. And the attitude to make-up as a camouflage of “flaws” is a vicious stereotype that lowers self-esteem.
