Corrective underwear for show: Underwear in the new role

TELLING ABOUT TRENDS FROM PODIUM which can be adapted for your wardrobe for the next six months. We have already talked about coats, coats, mules, reminiscent of slippers, and dress-combinations as if from the linen department. Now, the girls stop hiding their Spanx clothes and things that they have recently been embarrassed about, like tight-fitting bicycles, and wear them for show and with pride.

How it all began

Practically from the very moment when people, in principle, thought about the need for underwear - that is, an additional barrier between their own body and clothing "to the exit" - it served not only to cover and protect strategically important parts of the body, but also to "fit" figures to the ideals of the beauty of his time. Women bandaged their breasts or tried to increase it, tightened the waist or visually stretched the body. Corsets ruled the ball for several centuries, briefly going out of fashion and then returning. The harm that was caused to health by rigid structures made of whalebone and even metal rods, which greatly deform the body both from the outside and the inside, the world didn’t particularly care all this time. The least suffering, perhaps, got to the thighs, the pomp of which became the universal enemy number one only in the second half of the twentieth century: for several centuries they remained hidden under the voluminous skirts, and if desired, further increased with the help of tournaments and other cunning devices.

Throwing underwear in the form in which it exists now, that is, no longer crippling structures that look like instruments of torture, but completely life-friendly things, appeared in the last century. And we do not mean bras that transform breasts of any shape into sharply cones sticking out of the chest, or corsets, which were brought back to the arena by designers promoting to the masses boudoir and BDSM aesthetics. Now slimming tights, body, high “grandmother's” cowards were responsible for creating the “right” forms - just such in 1998 were desperately embarrassed by the book Bridget Jones. Until this, though a small revolution, there was already very little at that time.

The 29-year-old entrepreneur Sarah Blakely turned out to be a revolutionary. She decided that everything that exists in this segment on the market is ugly and, most importantly, completely uncomfortable. So begins a good half of all the stories of the birth of new brands: Blakely could not find anything suitable for herself and decided to do everything herself. The slimming pantyhose that existed at the time was bad because it was no longer possible to wear any open shoes with them. They exerted the same pressure on the whole leg, although it would be enough to pay attention only to a few zones.

The updated version of Blakely no longer had feet and no visible seams and had a new elastic waistband adapted to different types of female figures. So with the modernization of old tights began the history of the brand Spanx, which a few years ago made the inventor of the youngest billionaire who earned her fortune alone, and led her to the list of the 100 most influential women in the world according to Forbes. In 2000, when everything had just begun, it was difficult to imagine such a development of events: first, Blakeley refused to work the factories, then the lawyers involved in patent law, and the distributors.

The desperate situation demanded desperate measures, and, in order to acquaint the world with her invention, the owner of Spanx went to the most unexpected tricks. Shown her super pantyhose to representatives of retail chains, luring those to the toilet, persuaded her friends to demand brand underwear in all stores, went to the reality show of Richard Branson to advertise themselves and their products to the whole country. And, of course, made friends with the main woman of American television - Oprah Winfrey, sending that miracle invention as a gift. Winfrey appreciated the novelty and called it - from all TV screens of the country - revolutionary. After this recommendation, Spanx no longer had problems with purchasers. And dozens of other products were added to tights: corrective body and overalls, dresses, shorts and more.

How the slimming underwear stopped hiding

Today Spanx is not the only player in this field, but still the largest. Models of corrective underwear around too much weight, and find the right is not difficult. But until recently, they all served the same purpose: to model the "ideal" by modern standards figure, to correct all the "problem" areas to seem absolute perfection, devoid of any flaws. That is why it was at least embarrassing even to simply admit that you wear slimming shorts under a luxurious dress - this is an official and, as it seemed, annoying recognition of your own imperfections. So all the girls who publicly declared their love for Spanx seemed almost revolutionary. Those who tried not to advertise this little trick were always happy to expose: just a couple of years ago, the same Kim Kardashian, under the dress of which the silhouette of corrective shorts was clearly read, the tabloids could laugh openly.

Today, fortunately, things are different. Realizing that sincerity is the most effective way to the hearts of fans, the stars actively moved in a new direction and started talking about what was customary to hide. To create around themselves the aura of celestial habits, modern heroines no longer want Not only "neighbors' girls" who could always afford this, but also femme fatale women whose images are based on sex appeal almost absurdly tell about uncomfortable things. Years of depression, skin problems, unsuccessful attempts to lose weight after giving birth, unsuccessful dates - those who thought that modern divas had not even heard of it, gradually accept that the girls from the covers are the same people as all of us. Gathering on the carpet, they glue the nipples with paper tape and the toes with a plaster. Trying to turn into a "Miss Grace", they squeeze into a corrective body. And under the transparent naked-dresses wear "grandmothers" elastic pants.

In the wake of new sincerity, even such "secret" items of underwear are becoming elements of casual wear - as once were combination dresses, pajamas and lace bras. And those designers who previously did not specialize in this area at all begin to stare at her. Previously, this was possible only if the subject of the corrective underwear merged with the sportswear: tights from the old adidas Originals x Opening Ceremony collection, for example, resemble a sports suit much less than one of the main corrective models — the same slimming jumpsuit with a neckline allows the chest to "crawl away" to the sides and keeps it strictly along the course. Well, now it’s not necessary to mask the familiar silhouette with prints and additional decorations - black and different nude shades work much better. And the collections of the same Kanye West, of which only, it seems, during the entire last week, they are said to be almost half of the seasoning season of the dresser — although these things do not carry the corrective function.

How to wear

Both in the old fashioned way, and in a new way: for example, to put on a body and tight combinations under transparent dresses. This trend does not cancel the old opportunities - but it gives a lot of new ones.

Most of the options, of course, you can peep at the main adherents of this movement, Kim Kardashian and Rita Ora. The first of the slimming things practically does not crawl out, the second is experimenting with its own image every day - the singer's stylists are more creative than most other celebrities. If you decide to play sister Kardashian (Kim, Kylie or another K - to whom the soul lies), buy a corrective dress and wear it just as you would wear any other. To complete the picture - with plastic boots from the latest collection of Yeezy and a beige coat. A Spanx jumpsuit, coarse boots or lightweight sneakers, a bomber jacket and a denim shirt, the sleeves of which are knotted at the waist, are something like Kendall. And the feeling that you are walking down the street in underwear, in this way should not arise.

And, of course, it is a great option to finally adapt to transparent skirts and dresses for everyday life: let there be shorts or overalls under them, and shoes with low heels or no shoes on them.
