Delfina Delettrez: Surreal Decorations
IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK" Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how you can buy their things. Our heroine this week is the heiress of the Fendi fur empire, the Italian Delphine Delettre, who launched the name brand jewelry.
Delphine Delettre comes from the Fendi family and today could assist Karl Lagerfeld. Instead, she decided not to follow in the footsteps of furry parents and created her own brand, which specializes in gold and silver jewelry with the addition of pearls, rubies, ceramics, glass, colored rubber and Tuscan marble. Delphine is inspired by gothic and surrealism, inventing ornaments in the form of animals, insects and different parts of the body, lips and eyes, the design of which is often compared to the works of another famous Italian surrealist designer Elsa Schiaparelli, whose achievements in fashion are called "ready-made ideas laboratory".
Fendi House was founded in 1925 and historically was a dynasty of strong and energetic women, in which the Dolphin is the last in the main line. As befits a wealthy heiress, Delphine traveled extensively in her childhood between Italy and Brazil, graduated from an American school and then interned three times at the house of Chanel Haute Couture in Paris. The designer believes that it was precisely this experience that determined her vision of jewelry, because the Dolphins had no special jewelry education. However, in 2007, she launched her own brand, presenting the first collection in the Paris concept store Colette, and immediately became one of the main events of the jewelry industry in recent years. In 2011, a young designer opens his first boutique in the historic center of Rome on Via del Governo Vecchio, next to Piazza Navona. Then the girl arranges several solo exhibitions of jewelry: in the Galleria O. in Rome, the Antonella Villanova Gallery in Miami, including the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. In 2013, Dolphin collaborates with Kenzo, showing a capsule collection of jewelry, the design of which was again built around the eyes.
From childhood, I watched how to create luxuries, even if the stitches made by hand were not perfect. For some, the things of my family are status, but for me, only a part of growing up, during which I learned that beauty lies in mistakes and imperfections. Therefore, I was not afraid to launch the jewelry brand without having special experience and education. Jewelry in our family has been handed down from generation to generation. From childhood I liked the idea itself, how one piece of jewelry can change women's outfit. I remember how my mother put on one Bulgari bracelet - and her image became majestic. It fascinated me. I am inspired by the images of Tim Burton and the works of the Renaissance anatomist Andreas Vesalius, and the lips referring to the works of Dali and Elsa Schiaparelli, I think, speak for themselves.
