"The daily life of the gods": Heroes of famous paintings on the streets of Kiev
Ukrainian artist Alexei Kondakov found an ingenious way to combine the past and the present in his series The Daily Life of the Gods: using graphic editors, Kondakov puts the characters of classic paintings by Caesar van Everdingen, Caravaggio, William Bouguereau and other artists into a modern setting. In the artist's collages, you willy-nilly find yourself: nymphs, satires and other heroes of the paintings, like ordinary residents of large cities, spend time in Kiev's entrances, trade in markets, wait for someone in underground passages and go to public transport with a bored look.
The work on the project of Alexey Kondakov was inspired by the paintings of Caesar van Everdingen. “I realized that the heroes of these masterpieces just want to have a good time like us,” he said. New works of the artist appear on his pages on Instagram and Facebook.
