Mickey Mouse head and hoods: 10 artifacts from fashion weeks

October 2 ended Paris Fashion Weekand with it the regular fashion season, which is remembered not only by the most diverse (and sometimes controversial) collections, but also by unusual artifacts. Some of them subsequently fall on the shelves, while others remain part of the set design or stylistic component. Talk about the brightest.

Off-White Travel Pillow and Zipper Earrings

This season, Virgil Ablo decided to dedicate the show to Off-White sports: the designer invited famous athletes to participate in the show and showed off new things from the Nike collaboration, as well as an unusual “decoration” that looks more like a traveling pillow. In the media suggested that the accessory may be a reference to some sports equipment, but razvidet pillow in it is no longer possible. Another model that is worth paying attention to is massive earrings in the shape of belt buckles.

Gucci Mickey Mouse Head Bag

Gucci Paris show, held in the famous club Théâtre Le Palace, again became a real holiday for vintage lovers. In addition to the nostalgic fringed tops, plush costumes and pink sweatshirts depicting country singer Dolly Parton, the collection included a bag in the shape of the head of Mickey Mouse, one of the characters of the much-loved Disney studio Michele.

Champagne Celine

Another instagram hit from the last weeks of fashion is Celine mini champagne, decorated with brand logo. Guests were handed out bottles immediately after the show, as if wishing to sweeten the pill who were disillusioned with the new aesthetics of the brand. Inside, as they say GQ, there was Moët & Chandon champagne. The gesture turned out to be beautiful - even the fashionable critic Susie Menkes took the souvenir home.

Dog on the show Sonia Rykiel

The show Sonia Rykiel became an important event not only for those who are interested in fashion, but also for all Parisians. This year marks 50 years old - to honor the memory of Riquelle who left in 2016, the city authorities, led by Mayor Anna Hidalgo, named the designer's alley in the bohemian district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, where Riquelle lived. They decided to hold the show in the same place - on the site of the Sunday market, which is pleased to visit Julie de Libran, who headed Sonia Rykiel in 2014. For authenticity, the designer invited not only models but also locals with their pets to the podium.

Phone Holder Maison Margiela

Perhaps the most "functional" accessory was again introduced by John Galliano at the Maison Margiela show - it was a holder attached to the foot for the phone. We still do not recommend wearing devices there (especially in the Moscow metro), but we give five for the idea.

Balmain Metal Bustier

The theme of the Balmain show this season was a mixture of two styles: conditionally “Parisian” and “Egyptian”. At the same time Thierry Mugler spotted in the show and borrowing from his archival works, which he told in Instagram-story. Mugler said that Balmain creative director Olivier Rousten copied a metal bustier from the 1991 collection. “Probably a tribute. Ha-ha,” wrote the designer. Rusten left his statements without comment.

Thom Browne Lobster Costume

Mark Thom Browne is known for eccentric stylistic decisions in all that relates to set design. This season, the show’s theme was the beach - but with far more extravagant characters than, say, Chanel. On the faces of the models were masks in the spirit of Hannibal Lector, contrasted with cheerful prints on clothes. One of the girls came out at all in a “lobster suit,” which pressed her arms tightly to her body. “It’s hard to calmly look at all these jackets and coats,” Vogue journalist Kioma Nadi summed up, adding that she had the feeling that “the models were cast ashore in even the most sophisticated but tangled fishing nets.” The Washington Post critic Robin Given has agreed with her: “The models looked like hostages,” she noted.

Valentino hat

The Valentino brand decided to repeat the success of Simon Port Jacqumous's wide-brimmed hat and included spectacular hats in the spring-summer collection dedicated to artists. Whether they will appear in stores is unknown - but the effect of "la bomba" is precisely assured.

Inflated hood Courrèges

The Valentino's range of unusual hats at fashion weeks was not limited to enormous Valentino hats - the French brand Courrèges also contributed, releasing puffy hoods. In his debut collection, the new creative director of the brand Yolanda Zobel suggests wearing them with flying dresses, crop tops and sandals. Why not - however, Vogue critic Nicole Phelps still believes that the designer first of all needs to "bring his vision in order."

Academic cap Calvin Klein 205W39NYC

If you do not know what to do with the academic cap left after graduation, then you should know that it can be not only hung on the wall as a trophy, but also worn as an accessory. This is what Raf Simons suggested doing at the Calvin Klein 205W39NYC show, inspired by the film “Graduate”. The designer recommends combining a headdress with a T-shirt based on Steven Spielberg's Jaws or neoprene suits inspired by surfing.
