According to needs: Tones from weightless to dense

Text: Moore Sobolev

We usually approach the tonal tool functionally: paints over - and all right. Meanwhile, the tone can be almost the same emotional element of makeup, like a shadow or a blush: from what it will be - transparent or dense, matte or radiant - the feeling of the face changes. Moore Sobolev, author of the telegram channel and blog Fierce & Cute, collected tonal tools with different coatings and told how they differ.

Clear and very light finish

A global fashion for natural non-toned leather is just a few years old. Means called "tinted moisturizer" have been encountered by brands before, but a serious trend emerged relatively recently - when the ideas of accepting yourself as you are, coincided with the capabilities of the industry (for example, in the American Allure the first post on the "no makeup makeup" tag dates from 2012). In 2013, Chanel presents the line “Les Beiges” with the concept of “healthy glow”, where the focus from perfect skin without a single spot is shifted to a healthy complexion. At about the same time, the European and American markets are adapting Korean CC creams - products that do not tint, namely, improve the complexion, removing yellowness and salinity. Now almost every major brand has its own version of an almost transparent or very light foundation (the keywords are "tinted", "tint", "color correcting"). Often, the brands combine business with pleasure and add a light tone to the sanskrin intended for use in the city - a natural covering is obtained without superfluous layers.

Light and medium coverage

Since the classic foundation, as opposed to tinting, can be layered, the separation here is rather arbitrary: usually the coverage is considered "light to medium (or" medium to full ") coverage". The “light to medium” coating is easily stretched over the skin and smoothes, but does not hide its texture. The method of application depends on individual preferences, but with a beautyblender type sponge, any tonal tool is usually applied more transparently, and with a brush in the form of a tongue - denser. It is these products that are most often produced in the classic formula of light cream or lotion and, in addition to the obvious tinting ingredients, also contain moisturizers. Most often, tonal ones with a "light to medium" coating are radiant or "radiant from the inside," but you can find slightly matting variants among them.

Medium and dense coverage

The mark "medium to full" or even "full coverage" does not mean that such a cream can be seen per kilometer: the industry is not in place and the invisibility of tonal means is now a priority for any makeup company. Moreover, a dense coating does sometimes turn out to be ductile and inconspicuous (such is, for example, the latest Tom Ford product). But with a dense coating, the skin relief is smoothed to the maximum, and its own shade is blocked, which is why a toned face without rouge and contouring often looks flat. Such remedies are often persistent and very persistent and are available in all forms: classic creams, very liquid fluids that sit on the skin with a super-thin matte layer, sticks and compact “cream powder” that must be applied with a sponge. In this category, the easiest to find is a hard matting cream, but plenty of shining options.
