Relief brand owner Zhenya Atabaeva about favorite outfits
FOR RUBBER "WARDROBE" we take pictures of beautiful, original or strangely dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell stories related to them. This week our heroine is Zhenya Atabaeva, the entrepreneur and owner of the Relief brand.
I like to experiment and look for something new, so my style continues to evolve. It all started when I was seven and I first opened Vogue - it was the September 1999 issue. I was struck by absolutely everything, from the crushing acne of Chloe Sevigny to the daring Gucci Campaign and Absolut vodka advertising - I re-read it a hundred times. The second fashion touch happened when my grandmother taught me how to sew on a typewriter. I practiced on colorful pieces of synthetics - it was a whole adventure. Since then, I began to pay attention to the people and their style, clothing and fabrics from which it is sewn. Now I like to dress spectacularly and simply: I adore shirts, white, black and red, blue denim and bright costume jewelry. I am impressed with the sex appeal of the 80s, and the elegance of the 90s, and the glamor of the 2000s, and minimalism in the 2010s. I dress, guided by inner feelings: today, “in sports”, tomorrow - elegant and calm.
Now I often sew things to order - I hope this approach will be for me an alternative to shopping. I do not like to wear other people's things, so I rarely go to flea markets. I mainly order bags and shoes online, although I like to calmly measure things from the mass market at home - this helps to avoid impulsive purchases. In this case, Shopbop and Farfetch still monitor - suddenly something interesting will come across.
Custom skirt and scarf, Relief blouse, Uterqüe sandals, Mango bag
I immediately fell in love with the fabric from which the skirt was sewn; I found another fabric in the same warehouse, for a scarf, this is Céline before the rebranding, from the 90s. The blouse appeared like this: I wanted to buy a satin silk shirt, but it turned out that now nobody does such things, and the price for vintage models is nearing twenty thousand. I decided to sew my own - this is a very elegant thing that can become a wardrobe base.
Shirt is custom-made, Zara T-shirt, Monki skirt, Mango sandals, Balenciaga bag, jewelery from Milan
All that I can not find in stores, I sew to order, like this huge shirt - it is my favorite now. I am inspired by photos of my mother in her youth, she was very stylishly dressed, I think I love her denim. Seeing this skirt in Monki, I immediately thought of my mother - it became so warm that I bought it without a second thought.
The dress is custom-made, earrings and sandals - Zara
Again, the story of how I fell in love with the fabric and saw myself wearing a dress from it — I immediately wanted to go to the dance floor. It is either from the movie "Guest from the Future", or from "Saturday Night Fever." Once I put it on the party on the occasion of my birthday - after it all the gifts mysteriously disappeared.
Sandals bought, imagining that I was Diana Ross. They turned out to be the most comfortable in my life - once she danced for five hours.
Jacket Uniqlo, long sleeve PPCM, shorts from Korea, Zara sandals, earrings & Other Stories, Balenciaga bag
Shorts got a second chance when I realized that they could be combined with a jacket. I usually wear either a T-shirt or a white shirt under it, but then I got a hand on a long sleeve with a PPCM cat. I bought it recently in memory of summer in the city - it is very cozy and made of cool knitwear.
Earrings found in Paris, they look cool in a typical feminine way, and sports.
Top and skirt are custom made, Prada bag
I bought the bag spontaneously - I just fell in love with this powder color and how it combines with the golden logo.
Dress and earrings - Uterqüe, Claudie Pierlot shawl, Proenza Shouler mule, Le Specs glasses, My Little Flea Market pendant
This is me in the image of "Pablo Escobar's girlfriend" - a dress with frills turned out to be very useful at the Mexican party; a combination of large earrings, a headscarf and combed back hair was inspired by telenovelas from childhood. Mühli found on Farfetch with a nice discount - just dreamed of such. Claudie Pierlot bought a shawl in Paris - the “red leopard” coloring struck me outright. Le Specs glasses from the same place, from Rivoli street - took the last ones, this model was so popular.
H & M jacket, Topshop dress, Zara earrings, Uterqüe sandals
This H & M jacket is my favorite thing in the wardrobe. I bought it a long time ago, I saw it in the store and immediately took it to the cashier, without thinking that I would love it so much. People often ask where he comes from.
Custom Made Dress, Low Classic Earring, Proenza Shouler Mule, Zara Belt
I sewed this black dress in three favorite colors: black, white and red. White gave her friend - it went very well with her. I especially like the universal black, which looks good both in the afternoon and in the evening in a more formal setting.
"Crumpled" earring bought during a trip to Seoul. The Korean brand Low Classic is very similar to Céline - in my opinion, the latter even had a crumpled bracelet in one of the collections.
H & M jacket, COS t-shirt, Dr. jeans. Denim, Claudie Pierlot shawl, Mango earrings, Uterqüe sandals
I find it difficult to find the right jeans - this pair of Swedish brand Dr. Denim I bought in London, in the concept store of Scandinavian brands, where there were really a lot of different models. T-shirt COS borrowed from her boyfriend - really liked the fabric ribbed and the collar is clearly under the throat.
Hoodie 032c, Sandro skirt, Zara sandals, H & M choker, costume jewelery from Milan
I like this hoody very much with a brilliant logo: rhinestones have been my unclosed gestalt since school. It inspires me, including the style of girlfriends: for example, in one of them I spied a combination of black hoodie and girlish peach fur coat. I was also impressed by how the Kardashian sisters mix sportswear with sandals on their heels — it all turned into this image. A choker so sunk into my soul that I bought two.
Perfume: Montale Intense Tiare, Montale Roses Musk, Tom Ford Soleil Blanc
I like pleasant smells around me - it is very relaxing, so I often buy perfumes, candles and diffusers. This summer I found two ideal scents: Montale Intense Tiare, I call it the smell of an expensive Thai spa, and Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, which resembles the smell on the beach by the Mediterranean Sea - a mixture of sea air and sunblock. In general, I love Tom Ford perfume for a wide range and durability.
Points: Gentle Monster, Le Specs x Adam Selman, Le Specs
I found out about the Gentle Monster during a trip to Seoul: because of the window-display, at first I didn’t even understand that it was a shop — it looked like an art gallery. It turned out that this is an incredibly successful brand of glasses - bought a pair in memory of such a cool place.
Banana Republic bracelet
They have a nice jewelry, occasionally come across really interesting things.
