New Faces: Ajak, Ashley and Florian
Look At Me talks about the new models: Ashley from the US, Ajak from Sudan and Floriana from Belgium.
“New Faces” is a weekly rubric about models whose names will constantly be an insanity to our eyes. These girls and young men from the “most promising” tops will very definitely turn into the “highest paid” top very soon. In the meantime, this has not happened, we propose to consider them closer.
Nineteen-year-old Ashley Smith agents found at a music festival in Austin - Tanney and Alan Forman of Formanmanagement gave Ashley their business card. After much deliberation and excuses of her boyfriend, the girl still called to agree on a casting account, but only two weeks later.
Ashley Smith is often compared to Lara Stone and Georgia May Jagger because of the rubble, only they, unlike Ashley, never had a desire to correct it: “I always wanted to get rid of my“ misunderstanding of nature ”, but I could not raise money In the end, everything turned out to be as good as possible - now my fault brings me money, because it differs from other girls-models. "
Ashley during her short career managed to work with photographers Ryan McGinley and Chadwig Tyler, but a real revelation, by her own admission, was an acquaintance with Terry Richardson. The latter posted photos of Ashley to his blog.
Despite filming for the American Elle, iD (a great interview with Ashley in the last issue and shooting with her boyfriend) and Teen Vogue, Ashley Smith plans to do something completely different in the future: "If I hadn’t become a model, I would have gone to college my friends. I always wanted to develop my drawing skills, they say it works out well for me. But my dream is a Broadway show. Have you ever heard of “Horror Shop”? I’ll definitely play Audrey. "
The success story of the twenty-year-old Ajak Deng from Sudan may well be called a dream come true. In 2003, when the Ajak family fled the civil war to a refugee camp in Kenya, her mother died of malaria. Together with her four brothers and three sisters, including a six-month-old baby, Ajak spent two years there, and then managed to move to Australia.
For the first time about this Sudanese model started talking at the Australian fashion week, since then she has been continuously traveling the world. Ajak is the first black model for nine seasons, which appeared on the catwalk during the 2009 Chloe autumn show. Six months later, she could be seen in New York and Paris, during which time she also took part in the Adam, Givenchy, Maison Martin Margiela and Lanvin shows.
Journalists are now predicting Ajak for the glory of her compatriot Alek Uek, whom the girl wanted to be like in her childhood: “This is the most inspiring person in my life. She showed the whole world that even if you are a poor girl from Africa, you can still do anything.”
“She’s at the start of a big road of fame,” admitted Stephen Bucknell, manager of Adjuk from the Australian agency FRM Moel Magagement, to the Daily Telegraph. "All agents and photographers mark her modest and pleasant character, and this is extremely important in the modeling business."
Twenty-year-old Florian van Bael from Brussels became a model by accident: at a shoe store, a manager from a modeling agency IMM asked his ex-girlfriend to come to casting. As a result, she was not the model, but her companion.
Florian is still quite new to the modeling business: he has never been to the United States and is only going to go there in the next fashion weeks.
Florian devotes all his free time to music: “I’m a real music fan - I can spend a whole day on the floor listening to records. I don’t need anything except that.” True, he immediately notes: "But I am not an outcast, more than anything, I love evening walks with friends in my native city. Brussels is certainly not the city where the sun and clear sky are always, but it is small, and you always have a chance to stumble upon a friend. " If the career of Florian van Bael and the truth will develop as well as he is predicted, he is unlikely to have the opportunity to spend time like he used to.
