What to eat in winter: 10 useful products
Winter is coming slowly but surely which means that heat sources should be sought everywhere - not only in your wardrobe. In addition to woolen socks, hot chocolate and dreams of the New Year holidays, simple and affordable products can warm and provide energy. We have compiled a list of fruits and vegetables, from which it is worth taking vitamins and inspiration in winter.
eat fresh seeds get tired, we advise you to think about cooking. Pomegranate behaves well in desserts, for example, in a pie with pomegranate juice, and in drinks: it is possible to celebrate the New Year with champagne punch. In addition to such light and straightforward methods, pomegranate seeds can and should be added to meat, poultry and salads. We plan to start with a winter salad with pomegranate and bulgur.
Chestnuts
The discussion now is not about those chestnuts that fall painfully on the head, and then serve as the basis for thousands of handicrafts in elementary school, but about edible chestnuts, which, unfortunately, do not grow at every step (in no case try to prepare the first horse chestnut is poisonous). The fruits of chestnut are not only eaten raw or fried, but are also ground into flour - it can be replaced with wheat flour with gluten intolerance. They love chestnut flour in Italy, where they make the famous Tuscan cake and tortellini dough out of it - the stuffing for the latter can also be made from chestnuts. If you are inconvenient to tinker with flour or no desire, then you can simply cook soup from chestnuts - it is difficult to imagine a more seasonal use of these fruits.
Cale
Gwyneth Paltrow, Jamie Oliver, Beyonce - all these people confessed their love to Cale, and who are we to argue with Beyonce? The salad, which had become a cult in the last four years, finally began to appear on the shelves of Russian supermarkets and ceased to cost as a cast-iron bridge (although it still stands as a quarter of it). We are trying to rejoice in this state of affairs and offer to begin a closer acquaintance with Keil this winter. The easiest option is to put it in a salad, for example with a cucumber, nori seaweed and almonds, as queen Bee has bequeathed. In addition to salads, cale is good in soups - for example, with sausages and sweet potatoes (sweet potatoes, by the way, is also a winter product that should not be missed).
they don’t carry the benefits of research, but turn a simple snack into 4D entertainment. Because of the strong sweetness, persimmon fruits very easily fit into desserts - tarts with persimmon, persimmon with chocolate and mint - and perfectly serve as a side dish, as in this mutton recipe. Fun fact: in Korea about dried persimmon they even composed a fairy tale, very sweet.
Kohlrabi
An unusual relative of cabbage rarely gets into the kitchen, but in vain. Kohlrabi can be found in every decent little supermarket, and anyone can cook this cabbage. An inexperienced cook will definitely cope with raw kohlrabi, such as in this spicy salad. Those who are already a little better controlled with cooking can put kohlrabi into the soup diet - this is an excellent base for any vegetable broth. Finally, this vegetable can be stewed, for example, in tomato sauce. Then you need to limit yourself only to the limits of your imagination: you may want to cook kohlrabi, pancakes or stews.
Rhubarb
In Russia, it was the rhubarb desserts that began to gain popularity relatively recently, but for the last four hundred years England has been living with rhubarb pies. And he does it right - the sweet and sour stems become an excellent filling for baking, of which you can make jams and preserves and even sweet rhubarb soup. True, you should not get involved in this vegetable in large quantities: it contains oxalic acid. Although it is necessary to eat a few kilograms of leaves for real poisoning, sometimes a smaller amount can cause nausea or vomiting. Nevertheless, rhubarb is useful: it contains a large amount of fiber, vitamins of group B and folic acid.
as in this vegan chocolate cake, and in salads - no longer instead of something, but just like that. Do not be afraid to buy unripe avocados: they ripen in a couple of days if you put them in a dry dark place. The main thing is not to overdo it. Remember that the skin and bone of the avocado are poisonous for pets, so if you decide to grow an avocado at home, remove the stone higher from the cat. The rest we are ready to talk only in the presence of avocado.
Barberry
Caramel "Barberry" we do not include in the winter list - it is rather an off-season product. We are talking about the berries of a small shrub that grows almost everywhere and bears fruit in winter. Barberry berries are rarely found in supermarkets, but they are found in almost every market, especially “at grandmothers”. Barberry has a lot of pectin, so jams, marmalades and marmalade are easily made from it. For those who do not like sweets, barberry is also useful: dried berries are traditionally used in Persian meat dishes, for example, for preparing barberry rice with chicken - it will definitely warm you up on a winter evening.
Kiwi
Despite its "tropic", kiwi is quite winter fruit ripening in late autumn. Kiwi has a lot of vitamin C, and because of its softness, it is perfectly perforated and can become part of any smoothie. You can start with a basic recipe from kiwi with a banana and strawberries. If you are already a professional in the smoothie business, we advise you to pay attention to Dima Ananev's telegram channel dedicated to them - there is a frequent guest kiwi, and the recipes are so inspiring that you immediately want to run for the matcha powder and coconut milk. In addition to smoothies, kiwi is suitable for baking, such as muffins or a cup of kiwi with yogurt.
a little cold. So, they begin to collect fruit in November, which means that in winter it should be bought and eaten - fresh, ground with honey and in the form of the already mentioned jam, for example, with a pear. If you sterilize the banks laziness, then make a vitamin mixture and eat it with pancakes or bake with feijoa sweet bread. Like kiwi, this fruit works great in a smoothie - for example, with apples, lime and spinach.
