From climate change to HIV: The main threats to health according to WHO
The other day, the World Health Organization released a list of the main threats to human health in 2019, to which it plans to pay particular attention. The list includes a variety of factors, such as air pollution and climate change: according to the organization, the first one harms the heart, lungs and brain and can lead to cancer, stroke, heart and lung diseases; and as a result of the second, people can die from exhaustion, malaria, diarrhea, the effects of high temperatures. WHO proposes to pay attention to various non-communicable diseases (diabetes, malignant tumors and heart diseases), an epidemic of influenza (the WHO notes that it is waiting for us this year - it is not known only when and what scale) access to health care (military conflicts, floods, floods), bacterial resistance to antibiotics, the Ebola epidemic and other dangerous diseases, poorly developed first aid system, anti-vaccination movement, dengue fever (estimated WHO, threatened about 40% of the world's population, and the disease spreads to regions where it is not usually present) and the HIV epidemic.
We have already described in detail many of these problems, others are yet to be dealt with in the future. Nevertheless, we already offer to find out more about what threatens our health next year - and take action.
