Moscow brand 10.GRAN: Jewelry in the form of molecules
IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK" we present young designers and tell them where and why they should buy their things. Our hero this week is a young jeweler and jewelry designer Ivan Tengran from Moscow. Together with the team, he makes unusual decorations under the brand 10.GRAN.
More and more Russian jewelry brands are being launched, but, unfortunately, we often don’t speak about the original design. Many simply use the iconic models of famous brands and produce them from cheaper materials. However, truly interesting brands also appear periodically - the new brand 10.GRAN is just one of them.
Founder Vanya Tengran says that he first studied television journalism at Moscow State University, but quit when he realized that his heart was not lying to her. All his life he wanted to be creative. Realizing that he was finally ready to translate the idea into reality, he began to look for material - it turned out to be a precious metal. Coming up with the concept of the brand, Tengran turned to physics and chemistry - the sciences explaining the structure of the world around.
Brooches were the first in the line of jewelry. One of them depicts, as the author says, a fictional chemical element - first of all, he was looking for a form that would be pleasing to the eye. The other is the symbol of the atom, which everyone remembers from the covers of school textbooks of physics. Rings are made in the form of enlarged molecules, literally wrapping fingers. The last was the idea of rings-gears, which were created in opposition to soft forms. Vanya says that both women and men like to order them. All models are made of silver and gold - until they can be found in the Moscow store Kursovoy; in the future we plan to open our own space.
At the initial stages, the designer was helped by a friend, Maria Stern, who also deals with decorations - for example, she suggested where to find the craftsmen. Tengran admits that the process of creating jewelry turned out to be a little more complicated than he had expected, but this only aroused his interest. The hardest thing was to make massive items like brooches or ring-gears — accordingly, the price went up. In general, both small and large ornaments 10.GRAN is an excellent gift for yourself or friends. So you not only make a purchase, but also support the young brand.
The most difficult - good masters. For one ring is about five or six people who are responsible for the various stages of creation. If one of the items is executed inaccurately, then the final result may be imperfect. Therefore, when something goes wrong or goes wrong, I always look for different options to achieve the desired result. Workshops with which I work, are in Moscow.
In the future plans - to expand the range, work with stones, continue cooperation with Kursovoy and organize a presentation-show. The idea of the place where people can come, try on and love jewelry 10.GRAN is slowly and surely born in thoughts of the future. Soon we will have new models with engraved inscriptions.
