"Google Feud": quiz on popular search queries

Google search queries and search results have long become an invaluable source of knowledge about the world, the universe and in general. Paper dictionaries and encyclopedias are gathering dust without work, and no one is looking for addresses and phone numbers anymore in the Yellow Pages. And even for the search for the meaning of life, people are increasingly going to the Internet, although this is definitely not worth looking for. Over the 18 years of Google’s existence, he has seen a lot, and now the company has decided to turn this unique experience into an educational game.

The quiz "Google Feud" is based on popular user requests, which are divided into four thematic sections: "Culture", "People", "Names" and "Questions". The player needs to continue the phrase like "From seafood I want ..." so as to guess the most popular options. For each correct continuation, depending on its popularity, award points, after three errors the round is considered lost and you can see all the correct options. So, it’s better not to know the continuation of the above phrase about seafood - they are all disgusting.

In fairness, the developers of "Google Feud" immediately warned that during the game will come across offensive and / or not amenable to logic answers. We have met a few of these: unless the assumption "Ketchup is a vegetable" (by the way, the most popular option) and, as it turned out, a common phobia "I am very much afraid of the Chinese." Such folk theses could be easily explained by short-sightedness or the stupidity of users, and perhaps in some cases this is the case. However, Google Feud also demonstrates another tendency: we are so used to the fact that you can google the answer (or at least a hint) to any question that we communicate with search engines without shame and conscience, about and without. Therefore, requests and issuances look naive, ridiculous, stupid, or simply absurd.

How to make a person happy? Can you die if you eat a lot of salt? I think I have the flu. How to make me love? We ask God from the car about everything that worries us or just comes to mind, and rely on the opinion of the search engine, forgetting that this is just a reflection of the global collective mind (or madness). As it turns out, the same absurd things come to mind to millions of people, but instead of thinking on our own or at least go to Wikipedia, we google “Obama was born in outer space.”
