Meet Russian Carrie and Brody

Russian adaptations of western serials are not the most painful spot of domestic television, but, as the song sang, if you tolerate this, then your children will be next. A year ago it became known that we will have our own version of the American drama "Homeland" (which, in turn, is an adaptation of the Israeli TV series "Hatufim"), where Iraq will be replaced by the North Caucasus, and the show will be shot by Pavel Lungin ("The Wedding", "Taxi Blues", "Oligarch"). An additional weight to the project was intended to provide the main Russian sex symbol of the turn of the century, Vladimir Mashkov.

Recently, the first shots from the filming of the Lungin "Motherland" appeared. Mashkov in the guise of Nicholas Brody is not that very similar to the original, but it looks quite decent for a Russian marine who survived a Caucasian captivity. Victoria Isakova (Inga from “The Thaw”) at the same time resembles an American, Kerry, and is organic in the Lungin incarnation of the FSB Schnitz from the 90s. Sergey Makovetsky is hard to find out - he’s just very similar to Saul Berenson. In general, see for yourself:

The Russian “Motherland” almost literally repeats the plot of the American adaptation: the colonel of the Marine Corps Bragin is captured by terrorists during an operation in the North Caucasus, after his release he becomes a national hero and falls under suspicion of the FSB analyst Anna. The first season of the series will consist of 12 episodes and will be released in spring 2015 on the TV channel "Russia 1".

I must say that in the next couple of years, skeptical fans of TV series will have to learn composure one way or another: Russian companies are currently working on adaptations of the British show "Luther" (we will become "Klim"), "Peaky Blinders" (we have "Farts") and "Misfits" (no Russian name yet). In fairness, we note that in the history of Russian television adaptations, along with failures (remember "Doctor Tyrsu" - Russian House), our cinematographers also experienced enlightenment: one of the examples is the sitcom "My Fair Nanny", who went on CTC. Another example: a cardinally rewritten, but still an adaptation of the cult British TV series "Life on Mars" - "The Other Side of the Moon" - is one of the few Russian TV projects for which it is not at all embarrassing to spend several free evenings.
