Putin signed the law on the decriminalization of domestic violence
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a draft law on the decriminalization of the first cases of beatings against relatives and other close persons. Earlier, punishment in the form of compulsory work (up to 360 hours), correctional work (up to one year), restriction or imprisonment (up to two years), forced labor (up to two years) or arrest up to six months threatened for beating without harm to health then under the new law for such beatings a fine of 5 to 30 thousand rubles, arrest of up to fifteen days or compulsory work for a period of from 60 to 120 hours is threatened.
Athletes have announced a boycott of a triathlete who beat his ex-wife
On the evening of February 13, a charity run took place in Moscow in support of the athletics coach Nadezhda Semenyuk, who was beaten by her ex-husband, triathlete Roman Paramonov. He began to beat his ex-wife in the lobby of the Krylatskoye cycle track, everything happened in front of the middle son of his former spouses. The victim’s friend stressed that this was not the first case of violence from Paramonov: the beating caused the athletes to divorce, and after breaking up, the former husband threatened Semenyuk, cut the wheels of her car and beat the woman when she arrived to pick up the children after the weekend. RAS Commission recognized homeopathy of pseudo-science
The Commission for Combating Pseudoscience and Falsification of Scientific Research at the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences issued a memorandum on homeopathy - the document says that treatment with homeopathic remedies "has no scientific basis," and "homeopathic methods of diagnosis and treatment should be qualified as pseudo-scientific." The authors of the memorandum noted that for two hundred years of the existence of this area of alternative medicine, no one has been able to experimentally confirm its effectiveness, and called on the state to take measures to combat homeopathy.
