Antrerobe: Moscow brand of wedding and evening wear
WONDERZINE PRESENTS YOUNG DESIGNERS and tells where and how you can buy their things. Our heroines this week are Galya Chepkina and Masha Kubasova, the founders of the Russian brand Antrerobe.
The search for a wedding dress is a real headache not only for those who do not like ruffles, bows and huge frills, but also simply those who put convenience at the forefront. At the same time, non-standard options such as pajamas or velvet suits are also not liked by everyone. Therefore, brides, as a rule, had two ways out of this situation: either to sew an outfit to order (or with their own hands), or to search in non-specialized stores (spending time in shopping centers or nervously estimating delivery times).
But in February 2016, another option appeared - to ask for help the young Russian brand Antrerobe, founded by Galya Chepkina and Masha Kubasova. The girls met at the British School of Design, and before creating their own brand, they worked in areas close to fashion: Galya was an architect, and Masha was a stage costume designer for the State Ensemble of Tatarstan. During the training, the girls were looking for their niche - they wanted to focus on the functional component of the clothes, and not to do "just another brand of beautiful dresses for the inhabitants of the metropolis."
“We were often approached by friends with a request to sew a wedding suit for them, since there is a difficulty with the choice. It was through the suitors that we found out that this issue is topical for girls: classic wedding salons are Aladdin’s cave, and buying on the Internet without fitting is pretty so finally the idea was formed to combine a wedding and simple city dress and to make laconic and modern clothes for celebrations, in which it will be possible to go to parties and just walk, without feeling too overly "dressed" Ovoryat founder Antrerobe.
The whole creative process takes place in Moscow, and the production is in Kazan. Now there are about eight people in the team of the brand: in addition to Masha and Ghali, a designer and a tailor technologist work on an ongoing basis. The rest — the knitter, the seamstress, and the embroiderer — perform design work.
While working on the first collection, the girls decided that their things were non-standard for this sphere, so they left the classic wedding colors: white, milky, warm gray and pink. Their wide trousers, minimalistic dresses with transparent inserts, lingerie-style tops and lightest parks look like the perfect set in the spirit of "new femininity": concisely, but festive. They are suitable for those who do not see the point of spending hundreds of thousands of rubles for a wedding dress, and those who are simply looking for a dress for outdoor parties.
Recently, the brand opened its own showroom in Moscow - near the Baumanskaya metro station, which can be reached by prior arrangement. At the moment, Galya and Masha are also in talks about distribution with Moscow stores that are close in spirit.
Starting work on the brand, we asked our married girlfriends about their wedding dresses. This gave a more accurate understanding of the vector of work. An important and difficult step was to move from words to deeds, thoroughly work on their own discipline and well-coordinated teamwork. There were fears that we might not work together, but everything worked out - very good planning and distribution of tasks helped a lot. We didn’t meet our deadlines, but we decided that since this is the first collection of the brand and no one is rushing us, it’s better to devote more time to the designs and quality.
