To follow: Instagram with online harassment archive

CONTINUE TO TELL about decent accounts in social networks through which you can view the whole world. Today, our violator got instagram by violinist Mia Matsumiya, an Asian-American woman who gloomily describes herself as a "magnet for perverts."

Matsumia is a victim of online harassment that has repeatedly turned into stalking. Over the past ten years, she received thousands of messages, comments and photos from men from all over the world: at best, they made one-time attempts to make acquaintance, at worst, they regularly wrote, pouring out their erotic fantasies and demanding meetings.

In the early 2000s, Mia Matsumia lived in New York, played the violin in a rock band and ran a blog. Such publicity was enough for messages from strangers in the spirit of "I just masturbated looking at your photo" or "in 6-7 years, I will come to America and find you, remember these words." Some brave souls tried to translate the communication offline. For example, during a concert in Germany in 2008, Mia insisted, in her own words, "a frightening type with a mad look" - demanded an autograph and a kiss. In the end, Matsumiya gave in under the pressure and signed on his arm, and the next day she received a picture from the guy in which he pretended to be cutting his autograph with scissors. Threats were sent to the violinist both via the Internet and ordinary mail. At some point, the police detained a man who had a whole archive hundreds of pages in which he fantasized about how he would track Matsumia at a concert, drag him to the toilet and rape him.

Over time, Mia developed immunity to ugly and frightening messages from strangers, since the flow of virtual harassment did not stop. She screened messages from strangers and saved them in a separate folder called “Horror” until she realized that the volume of accumulated material exceeded all reasonable limits. “Neither I nor any other woman deserve such an attitude,” Miya explains. “So I started an instagram and started publishing threats received.” The goal of the girl is to draw attention to the problem and support other victims of online harassment.

By the way, after Matsumia’s account became popular, the violinist began to receive letters from men who had once written nasty things to her and now decided to ask for forgiveness for their behavior. Mia is sure they are simply afraid to become heroes of her instagram. It is indicative that the men sent messages with apologies anonymously - apparently, they didn’t have enough courage to fully admit their guilt.
