21 grams: the designer came up with a dildo-urn for dust
If you think that a dildo throne and a vibrator with a camera for selfies are the strangest inventions of manufacturers of sex toys, then you are mistaken. Dutch designer Mark Sturkenbum invented a set of "21 Grams": it includes, among other things, a dildo with a small gilded urn in which you can put 21 grams of ashes of a deceased lover or a dear lover. The name of the project is connected with the erroneous belief that the human soul weighs 21 grams. The set is placed in a wooden box that opens with a gold-plated key; the key itself can be worn around the neck, like a chain with a pendant. In the box you can also find a small bottle for a memorable aroma and a couple of compartments for storing a wedding ring and reminiscent of the late things, such as a scarf. Using the speakers in the box, you can play music from your smartphone. It is assumed that all this will help the widow to remember those times when she was with her beloved or beloved.
The project was presented at the recent Milan Design Week. The creation of a designer set inspired communication with a familiar widow, whom he helps with shopping: a woman keeps an urn with the ashes of her late husband, but, according to Sturkenbum, this item does not reflect the woman’s attitude to her lover. “At the same time, I read an article about widows, taboos, sex and intimacy and asked myself if I could combine these themes and create an object dedicated to love, loss and intimacy,” said the designer.
