What to wear in the fall: The most anticipated fashion collaborations

Text: Vera Rayner

Although the true Slavophiles word "collaboration" still causes a nervous shiver, in the near future, we still can not get away from it. Designers of big fashion houses and small independent ones are more and more willing to cooperate with the giants of the mass market and sports brands, and buyers also willingly line up for their joint creations. For those who wish to spend several hours of their lives in one of these queues, we have gathered the brightest collaborations, the premieres of which are scheduled for this autumn. Unfortunately, there is no brilliant pair of IKEA and Kanye West in the list yet.

Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid

September 1

Model and instagram-star Gigi Hadid is still difficult to call an icon of style - she dresses more calmly and simply than original. This is rather a plus in this case: not everyone is ready to dress up every day, like, for example, the singer Rita Ora, who collaborates with adidas Originals. The first design experience of the blonde model was held with the support of American designer Tommy Hilfiger. The result of this collaboration was the Tommy x Gigi capsule collection, which representatives of the brand describe as a "playful and romantic look at the marine theme." It includes striped tops, t-shirts with prints of anchors and ropes, high-waisted trousers and jeans, jackets styled as uniforms, and bombers. And also - The Girl perfume, whose face, like the entire collection, Gigi herself predictably became.

Levi's x Max Goshko-Dankov

September

Last year, two large sports brands turned their faces to Russian talents. adidas Originals released the first joint collection with the domestic designer - Grunge John Orchestra. Explosion, and Reebok Classic - with artist Yeka Haski and with Orka Collective duo graphic designer Ksenia Stavrova.

In the fall of 2016, Levi's is announcing the first collaboration with a Russian artist in its history. The main hero of this pleasant news was the schedule Max Goshko-Dankov. The classic jeans themselves were not given away for experiments, but instead they suggested inventing a design for removable stripes that can be used to decorate the back pocket of trousers, jacket, and backpack, and in general absolutely any thing. As the basis for the joint collection, the artist chose one of the most recognizable symbols of Russia - the doll. In a familiar rounded silhouette, colorful curls, divorces and graphic flowers are inscribed. Strangely enough, it does not look kitschy: even the accumulation of such stripes on one piece of clothing reminds not so much of the traditionally Russian love for rich decorations, as about hippies.

Topman x Nasir Mazhar

6 September

Nazir Mazhar is another of the designers, opened to a more or less general public by the team of the Moscow concept store KM20. And one more of the designers, whose things look cool and progressive, but the prices for them, on the contrary, cause only melancholy and sadness. At such moments, and you begin to truly appreciate the trend in the collaboration with the giants of the mass market. H & M is unlikely to pay attention to the British in the near future, unless he suddenly becomes the art director of one of the LVMH houses, and Uniqlo his aesthetics obviously does not fit.

Fortunately, there is Topshop, which regularly collaborates with young British designers. They made the collection with Anderson, for example, even before he became the obvious favorite of all and was secretly appointed as a generation designer. Now Nazir Mazhar is next in line - he was invited to make a collection for Topman. There will be no female version of this collaboration, but who confuses it? Sports suits, plush embroidered jackets and T-shirts with T-shirts will suit everyone - just like the brand’s main collection.

adidas x Alexander Wang

10 September

Sports brands remain the main suppliers of collaborations-sensations: if H & M organizes this only once a year, then sport brands can have an unlimited number even in one season. The most intriguing of all promised in the near future - a mysterious story that connected Alexander Wang and adidas. No details (exactly like the official confirmation of the veracity of this news) about the upcoming cooperation in the press did not leak. A “verified source” who reported this information to WWD called only the date of the collaboration’s premiere, which obviously should have been a surprise - September 10th. On this day in New York, the Alexander Wang spring-summer collection should be shown as part of Fashion Week. And since the "dress-sneakers" in Wang's biography were already (and not so long ago), we would not be surprised if he again decides to combine these two directions in his show.

Uniqlo U x Lemaire

October 14

Strictly speaking, this collection of Christoph Lemaire is not quite a collaboration for Uniqlo U. So it was possible to name the first two "capsules" of the Frenchman for the Japanese brand, on which he worked as a guest designer star. Now Lemaire works at Uniqlo on a permanent basis as a creative director of the Uniqlo U line, and in October his first collection in the new position will go to the stores. Earlier, the designer in his mini-collections for the Japanese brand tried (and successfully) to convey the essence and style of its own brand Lemaire, but now the focus is on basic and comfortable things, from turtlenecks and cardigans to down jackets, that is, the embodiment of the essence is already Uniqlo. Lemaire's handwriting is felt mostly in the selection of colors - it has always been his forte, and for his first collection Uniqlo U he again mixed the most amazing tones, causing the least association with the mass market. Especially good is deep blue.

Kenzo x H & M

November

Every year in November, the H & M team makes the world start and run at full speed to the brand’s stores. Fortunately, there are thousands of them in the world, so the line in which you want to stand can be chosen from a variety of options. At the end of autumn, a new design collaboration is on sale, to which PR specialists have been preparing the public for the last 12 months. Until October, buyers are kept in the dark, discarding over a frame per month, and this strategy, judging by the experience of recent years, works perfectly. Although today it is difficult to believe that someone will be able to surpass the success of Olivier Rusten and last year’s Balmain x H & M collection, this year Carol Lim and Umberto Leon from Kenzo will try.

Once (not so long ago, even though it seems like ages ago), a designer duet dressed everyone in sweatshirts with snarling tigers and brought Kenzo back to the big arena. Prints, rich colors, slogans and indispensable games with street style - this is how we will remember the French house from the time of their reign, and the upcoming collaboration will surely be the same. This is quite straightforward, without unnecessary hints, indicated by the few shots that have already gone online. Perhaps it’s not worth waiting for the Balmenovsky madness around this partnership - there are slightly less lovers of crazy prints in the world than fans of bright sexuality and gold with stones.
