LFW Day 2

The fashionable morning of Saturday, September 19 began with the display of Mary Katrantzou, the artisan of prints. This season, definitely one of the most talented and successful young designers, the Greek woman Katrantzou presented her second collection at the London Fashion Week. The show was held on a specially designated for shows site at the University of Westminster with sponsorship of TopShop and NewGen Award.

A graduate of Saint Martins college, Katrantzou continued the game with prints, which she started last season, and showed a collection of trompley filled with effects. Dresses with forms of perfume bottles, hyper intense colors, graphically enlarged images and crystals combined with glass ornaments, specially created for display by Peter Layton, a master of glass-blowing products. Despite the fact that holographic effects made you feel dizzy, and because of the silhouettes, it was sometimes impossible to dismantle the “spirits” or the models on the catwalk, we can already say with confidence that the fashionable press will be delighted and the buyers will line up in queue.

The next must-go show of the second day of the Week was the show of Frenchman Charles Anastase. The collection, the best soundtrack for which would be the song Yoko Ono "Something More Abstact", combines, according to the designer, everything from "naivety and spontaneity to abstractionism and gothic." Rosy-cheeked models in hairpieces and earrings in one ear only, puffed tulle and crinoline wrapped in puffs on the catwalk, thus creating an atmosphere of a ball in the Palace of Versailles. The drama and innocence of this “sleepwalker” show was given to dresses by deshabille, with deliberately flawed seams, and spontaneity was added by unexpected trench coats and a plastic cape — a rain coat. The entire collection left a rather vague impression and made me think about whether Charles Anastase ready-to-wear would change to haute couture.

Ambiguous sensations from the Anastase show at once dispelled Amy Molyneux and Percy Parker, favorites of English celebrities and designers of the PPQ brand. The show, held at the Red Bull Fashion Factory, literally gushed with stars. The front rows boasted Geldof sisters, Aleksa Chang, actress Michelle Williams, Leigh Lezark from the Misshapes, daughters Annie Lennox, and TV presenter Fearn Cotton.

Already with the fourth model, released on the podium, it became clear how difficult was the casting - absolutely all models were black! Hairstyles ala "Nefertiti", sheath-dresses, shameless swimsuits, cotton sundresses with greetings from the 50s and loafers with a zebra print - an arrogant collection absolutely matched the guests, regulars of the tabloid press. PPQ designers also did not forget to remind about their last collaboration with Adidas - the trefoil was wearing t-shirts tucked into pants in the spirit of MC Hammer. The collection from Amy Molyneux and Percy Parker definitely cannot be called stunning or trendy, but you can already know in advance what Peaches will appear on at the next turn of The London Paper.
