Sound Around: Music Inspired Cosmetics

Text: Moore Sobolev

Moore Soboleva, the author of the Fierce & Cute blog, once a week, makes a thematic selection of products from his cosmetics collection for us. The third selection decided to make a musical.

Powder Benefit Rockateur

The latest addition to Box o'Powder's excellent line of colored powders (the collection includes blush, bronzer, and highlighter). I really like the design and name of Rockateur - it was enough to want them in my collection, but, fortunately, the color did not disappoint either. Rockateur - rouge complex pink-golden color, rather rare and unusual; darker skinned girls use them as a highlighter. Because of its warm shade, Rockateur can be quite demanding of the rest of the makeup, but it also perfectly “shapes” the face.

A set of pencils for eyes MUFE Rock For Ever

The professional brand Make Up For Ever in the winter of 2010 had a Rock For Ever mini-collection with a corresponding design: black and metal patches. I breathe unevenly to all kinds of metal in all its manifestations, both in music and in style, so I bought myself a tin box with five pencils. Shades inside the base - variations on the themes of precious metals and black, which, in general, is always useful. And also a box!

Lipstick MAC Viva Glam Gaga

Viva Glam is the business card of MAC: all proceeds from the sale of this range of lip products go to the MAC AIDS Fund. The line-up always has a famous ambassador or several - the campaign faces were Dita Von Teese, Roux Paul, Cindy Lauper, Debbie Harry and others - and for some time this ambassador also represents his own limited shade of lipstick or Viva Glam gloss. Now there is a campaign with Rihanna (her shades are red lipstick and shimmer red gloss), but my favorite collaboration is the first joint MAC lipstick and Lady Gaga, an unusual pale pink Viva Glam Gaga.

Lipstick "L'Etoile" Rockstar

Perhaps the most successful series in its own brand "L'Etoile", which I have repeatedly praised, balsam lipstick Rouge Desir. I love them very much - unlike many, they do not lose their brightness due to the moisturizing balsamic texture and are fairly pigmented. One of the best colors in the series is the dazzling Redstar-raspberry shade of Rockstar, which fully responds to its name: it is tempting not to make a clear outline, but to walk like Courtney Love.

Nail Polish Essie DJ Play That Song

My favorite lacquer brand Essie last summer released a collection of six tall neon under the general name DJ Play That Song. I like the title varnish of the collection the most - cheerful bright purple. Like many other neon varnishes, it is recommended that representatives of this collection be applied on a dense white base so that they can manifest themselves in all their glory. I hate such troubles, but I must admit that in this case they are justified - the result shines in the sun as a traffic light and is visible for about a kilometer.

Solid Perfume Le Soft Perfume Rock

The co-founder of the empire Sephora, together with the former director of L'Oréal, makes a nice brand of hard perfume Le Soft Perfume. Perfume is a small stick in a tight paper bottle. They are applied to pulse points and, in general, wherever they want, there is no alcohol in the composition, but there are moisturizing oils. Exceptionally complex compositions are not to be expected from Le Soft Perfume, but the flavors are quite decent. From the entire collection, Rock's aroma is predictably the one I like the most - it is citrus-bitter, masculine, with a soft musky base. The only thing that saddens me is that Le Soft Perfume has practically no plume, the scent is sitting very close to the skin, and I love that there is at least a minimal “cloud”.

Nail polish set OPI Katy Perry Collection

For several years I have been collecting mini-sets of nail polishes and especially closely followed the OPI collections, which make the most convenient mini bottles in the cutest boxes. The collection from the Katy Perry collection came out very successful, and the collection itself is not bad - Katy Perry, it seems, more than all the other celebrities combined, loves an unusual manicure. Therefore, in a joint collection with OPI, it came off as it should, not only giving the brand the name of its songs, but also coming up with shades directly. The most interesting is the pale blue glitter Last Friday Night.

Eyeko For Popstar Eyes Shadow Pencil

Another out-of-production thing of the already mentioned Eyeko brand is a thick double-sided pencil. I really love these pencils for careless rock and roll make-ups - they can be combined with shadows, or you can just shade along the contour of the century. Eyeko has three incarnations of this pencil: For Rockstar Eyes, For Popstar Eyes, For Superstar Eyes. Of course, I love the rock version the most, but we have a lot of rock here, so let it be Popstar, especially since the pencil is really beautiful. On the one hand, the stylus is turquoise, and on the other - bright blue.

Orly Glam Rock Nail Polish

One of the first collections of matte varnishes, released at the dawn of the corresponding trend, was the mini-launch of Orly Metal Chic, in which there were three near-metal shades. One of this trio was Glam Rock - a reddish-bronze lacquer, which revealed to me the beauty of this genre (first of all, because the matt varnish dries for about 10 seconds). About glam rock, he recalls perhaps that some kitschevost tone, but the name is still good. Like any other matte varnish, under the glossy topcoat Glam Rock looks very different - and also beautiful.

Eyeliner Urban Decay Heavy Metal

Heavy Metal is the name of a series of liquid eyeliners with glitter: shining multi-colored sparkles are densely poured into a transparent base. I, of course, could not get past the cosmetic bottle with the words “Heavy Metal” and with the drawn guitar and chose a Spandex shade (the wildest of them) - there are blue, pink, green, and God knows what sparkles. The brand recently restarted the entire line - the colors remained the same (two more were added), but there are no new guitars on the new bottles, and this is sad.
