Georgy Rostiashvili, fashion designer
Under the heading "Fresh blood" we present young professionals who have not yet become familiar in the pages of magazines, but will certainly have time to do it in the near future. Our hero today is Georgiy Rostiashvili, a young Georgian designer who studies at the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts and is already creating capsule collections of clothing.
Giorgi Rostiashvili was born and raised in Georgia. Like the vast majority of designers, fashion was fond of since childhood. “I am from a cultural environment where clothes are a very important part of everyday life. Even in very difficult times in Georgia, it was important to look good. That is, I always thought about clothes,” he says. In the mid-nineties, the young man’s family began to travel: he lived in Greece, in Cyprus and the North Caucasus, then moved to Denmark. In general, the typical cosmopolitan. |
In 2010, George entered the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts, famous graduates of the architectural course: among them Alex Popov and Knud Holscher. But the students of the department of fashion design, where Rostiashvili studies, are shown at Copenhagen Fashion Week. "Studying has opened a new chapter in my life, unlike any other. For the first time in a long time, I could completely devote myself to what I wanted to do without any restrictions. Our school has a very friendly atmosphere, and we have good material resources. The setting is optimal, especially for fashion designers. I think education is important. Studying helped me understand a lot about myself. With the tasks and situations that appear before you here, it is impossible to encounter anywhere else, "says Rostiashvili. |
Now the designer has three small collections of clothes: Natsili Samshoblo, Kin and Denim. They feel the love of minimalism and the influence of Balenciaga since the time of Nicolas Ghesquière. In general, it is better not to read about his clothes - it must be considered: it is difficult to even guess how much time was spent on creating dresses like paper and monumental high gloves from five types of leather. "I can be inspired by the appearance of an object or a certain topic, but besides, I can begin to delve into its history and aspects of its origin. Then I make these aspects visible. For example, I can be inspired by a dialogue between two people, someone's daily routine or the relationship between the individual and the institutions of power ", - Georgy Rostiashvili comments on his inspiration. |
The designer will graduate from the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts in three years and then, perhaps, launch a personalized brand. Now he is busy with a couple of projects. One is about native Georgia (the designer is sincerely glad that Fashion Week has finally appeared in his homeland), and the second is about strippers. |
