Wonderzine begins a new rubric "The Case" in which we introduce readers to women of different professions and hobbies that we like or are simply interested in. In the first issue - cinematographer Suzanna Musaeva, one of the creators of the erotic video magazine Allusion magazine.
I studied in VGIK, on camera. Everyone asks if it’s hard to be a female cameraman. Heavy. But this is not as rare as it was 50 years ago, when not every man was taken to the camera department, because the equipment was very heavy. So at our faculty of 36 people were eight girls. By the time Allusion magazine was created, I had a period of creative stagnation. At that time, nothing happened, there was nothing interesting. And really wanted some action. When there is an internal reserve of energy - young, big, it must be given away, otherwise you can sour.
This art project we came up with three of us (me, photographer Gevorg Markosyan and stylist Hovo Arakelyan) more than a year ago. At first, we discussed the full meter scenario with Gevorg, although we missed the time for field shooting, but we didn’t give up on the idea of doing something together.
We both love people very much. We thought: how to shoot people? Why not shoot them like that? This is the most honest, open and accurate portrait of a man - when he undresses in front of the camera. Any part of the body (arms, legs, thigh shape, waist, chest) - this is his portrait. We had no initial idea. More precisely, she was like this: we have nothing to do, we want to do something, and let's try to remove the nude. No, seriously: we started - we liked it.
What we do is very popular with people who are not in Russia. We are watched by both men and women, roughly in half. Now our magazine can be viewed on Tumblr and Vimeo. We still had a community on Facebook, but it was closed, although we didn’t put any tits tags.
Women agree with us to act under the pressure of my conviction
Most of our heroes are not actors or models, but ordinary (or unusual) girls of different professions. My presence beside them at the same time calms and excites. The first shootings for me were a shock. I was not ready to stand close to someone's bare chest. Do not immediately understand how to relate to this.
Pornography is in her head. It is a fact. If I come to the site with pornographic thoughts and shoot even the most innocently dressed girl, there will be pornography. We have an internal censor, a taste that we cultivate in ourselves. And this education does not show what we do not want.
Women agree with us to act under the pressure of my conviction. How to convince a man to undress in front of the camera? First, you need to see that he is ready to do this. This should be an internal solution. Like sex. I love the variety of faces, bodies, hair color, shape of hands. Our girls are of different sizes, shapes, shapes, and they are all beautiful. There is no woman who can not be removed beautifully. If it exists, then, most likely, the problem will be in me, not in it, because I don’t see anything in it.
Before filming, we meet and preliminarily discuss the details: what will be the clothes, the interior, the light, the makeup, the hairstyle. We are very seriously preparing for each video, we find such an entourage that the girl in her feels like herself, thinks of the camera as a loved one, to whom she wants to show something. Or did not think about it at all. In a shooting situation, when the camera is looking at you, the cameraman, everything is done to make you feel confident, we do not need to solder anyone.
Allusion magazine has become a matter of our lives. This is our child, and we cannot refuse it, because we enjoy what we are doing. It is important for me that after laying out the videos and photos of the girl with whom we worked, were satisfied. They are proud of what they have done, and they are not ashamed. Even if someone does not like it. Everyone decides for himself how ready he is to perceive nature, beauty, a person as he is, dressed or undressed.
