Binary Shirts Dresses & Shirts

IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK" Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how you can buy their things. Our heroes this week are Katya and Misha, the designers of the brand of basic things with interesting prints and textures of Binary.

In the Russian fashion industry, small brands with basic things at reasonable prices can be counted on fingers. It seems that Binary is going to occupy this particular niche. Katya and Misha, the creators of the new brand, wanted to combine minimalism, unisex and the 1950s in clothes. The result - a debut collection of a dozen simple and cute things. This is a white shirt, seemingly no worse than some Jil Sander, black shorts with a raised texture. But the pride of designers is a handmade shark print printed on a dress, shirt and shorts. The latter can be combined with each other - and you get a suit with monoprint. Binary works well with the dimensional grid: along with the standard S, M and L, they offer size XL, which is rare for Russian designers.

Katya worked as the lead designer of one of the lines of the Russian mass market O'stin and the trend director of the similar company People. She is currently developing freelancing collections. I met Misha at an old job. Last year, the guys came up with their own brand Binary: they discussed ideas for half a year, then they made a jerk and sent their debut collection to production. They plan to expand, improve quality and work with technology. We hope that they will succeed: in the first collection of Binary there are obviously not enough T-shirts and T-shirts - they are easy to make and easy to sell - and, perhaps, simple skirts like a skater skirt.

Our target audience is people experienced in clothing but do not make it a cult. For us, clothing is neither serious nor funny. This is an outer shell that tells others about you before you open your mouth. The task of design is not to produce an external effect. In the design you need to correctly combine the goal, the properties of materials, parts, comfort and energy. We are very careful about the quality issue - this is our fad. The level of service of local shops is low, people are not responsible for quality, and the customer always loses. We check every button ourselves, if something doesn’t suit us, the thing leaves for the workshop. We need to pay attention to our clothes if only because we have the experience of creating successful large-scale collections behind our shoulders. Now some brands are created by people who have no experience in the design of clothing. But we follow the Russian fashion industry. We are impressed by the approach of both Vika Gazinskaya and Nina Donis, and the Circle of Unity and F22, curious Gosha Rubchinsky and Heart of Moscow.
