Married with children: 7 art projects of parents
The appearance of a child always changes the routine of the parents; Some of them manage to manage not only to fulfill the actual duties of a parent, but also to reflect their feelings and experience in art projects. We chose seven cool, but not such well-known examples, such as those captured in all the media by Meihem, which mom wore in paper copies of Oscar dresses, and "The Reluctant Father" about how photographer Phillip Toledano built relationships with his newborn daughter.
Daily napkins
The sculptor from Brooklyn Nina Levy is a girl of surprising constancy. For her two schoolchildren sons, she paints napkins with scenes from the lives of her favorite boys' characters: Transformers, Godzilla and Arthas from World of Warcraft, for example. On each adds a wish for "colorful", "presidential" or "epic" lunch and the obligatory "With love, mother." Terribly touching.
Nocturnal commissions
Wired employee Eric Shtoer recently became a father and had to wake up every night around three in the morning after his son Franklin. In order to bring at least something pleasant out of forced insomnia, Stauer decided to clothe her in a project: every night he takes a selfie on which one of the illustrators fiverr.com writes a portrait for five dollars. The father collects all the drawings and puts them in his toggle and instagram.
Lotte Time Lapse
A rare parent does not photograph his child day and night, but the video artist and director Frans Hofmeester is one of those who do this for a very specific purpose. Each week, the father shot his daughter, and then mounted all the photos in 12 years in a short video. In less than three minutes you can see how the baby changes and turns into a beautiful baby. To be continued.
Collaborating With a 4-Year-Old
Micah Angela Hendricks is an illustrator who, by her own admission, is not enthusiastic about the idea of sharing her work. But for one series could not make an exception. Having bought a cool sketchbook for herself, Hendrix reluctantly allowed her daughter to draw in it and found that the girl had a perfect sense: to the unfinished portrait she had drawn a funny body and such decorations for which only childish imagination would suffice. Hendrix continued to draw with her daughter and gathered a whole collection of pictures that you can see and buy on the Society 6 page.
Tweeting With Vlad
Children often say funny and soulful things that rarely captures - and in vain. A professor at the University of Texas and the father of fourth-grader Vlad, Robert Quigley, has been documenting his child's maturation through Twitter for several years now. We were instantly fascinated by Vlad; but how could it not be if the child says such things.
Wengenn in Wonderland
Another photo project, but what. Queenie Liao with the help of available tools (clothes, soft toys, paper) visualizes the dreams of his younger son Wengenn. Well, or rather, thinks out and visualizes. The child in the photos appears in the image of Tarzan, the giant, the bellicose peak king - the fantasy and enthusiasm of the elder Liao can only be envied.
Sandwich bag art
Similar to the Daily Napkins project, only more ambitious. Graphic designer David Laferrie not only prepares sandwiches for children every day, but also paints plastic envelopes from under them. Children see pictures - all the time are different - only at school, when they open their lunch boxes, and after class they bring them home. At the beginning of the project, David did simple black and white illustrations, but now they have become more complicated and much more interesting: a monster eating flakes, a ghost golfer and even more than a thousand (sic!) Drawings can be peeped at Flickr.
