New Faces: Milau, Jessica and Carrie-Ann
Blonde Dutchwoman Milau van Grusen first tried herself as a model a couple of years ago. Then the girl was already 20 years old, and it seemed that it was too late to begin a modeling career. But she was not able to refuse the tempting offer of A Models agency scout, who met Milau on a street in the city of Den Helder. In addition, agent van Grusen Wardy believes that age only contributes to the development of her career.
"Age allows Milau van Grusen to do all the work that she gets. Girls 16-17 years old just can't cope with the stress and pressure that fall on them," he says.
Milau is known mainly as a filming model. On her account - editorial for Elle, Dazed & Confused, Numero, Sportswear International, TheOnes2Watch and D, as well as two advertising campaigns - for H & M and Diesel. Van Grusen appears less frequently on the catwalks than on the pages of magazines. Despite the fact that in New York it is represented by the Supreme agency, and in Paris and Milan - Women, from season to season, no more than five designers work at Milau shows. Currently Charlotte Ronson, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Vera Wang are collaborating with the girl. But after the last weeks of fashion in September, the British Vogue called Milau van Grusen a model that you just need to know. And the site Fashion Copious and before considered her to be a girl, to whom the fashion industry in the near future is obliged to pay the closest attention. At the same time, the Refugee blog spoke of Milau as a BFM category model, which stands for Big Friendly Model. The current excitement around the frail Dutch girl was caused by the fact that she opened the Balenciaga show. By the way, van Grusen did not appear on any show for the entire season.
Perhaps the popularity of Milau van Grusen adds her mole: models with shcherbinki and / or wide foreheads (the so-called dolphin face) already surprise no one, but girls with birthmarks on their foreheads are a rarity. The Dutchwoman does not plan to devote her entire life to the fashion industry, she says that she simply wants to do any of her work well.
By December 2008, Jessica Clark, a tanned new zealand with funny freckles, had been working as a model for a month. During this time, she starred for Miss Teen in the editorial on the school uniform and school cafeteria. A month later, Calvin Klein White Label creative director David Carrigan chose Jessica to participate in the Australian presentation of Ck Calvin Klein. After that, she was nicknamed a new girl by Calvin Klein, and Australian magazine Frankie invited Clark to play for the cover of his January-February 2009 issue.
“I was looking for fresh faces. I think we are always trying to find someone new. When I saw this girl, I immediately realized that she had beauty, freshness and energy. It was very nice,” says David Carrigan.
In the winter of 2009, Jessica hit the New York Fashion Week, where she participated in just one show - Adam SS 2009. Since then, nothing has been heard about her. Perhaps the girl concentrated on studying at school, but, most likely, she was simply not in demand. New Zealand returned to the runways during the past fashion weeks. First, Jessica received an exclusive at the Calvin Klein show in New York (this means that before the Calvin Klein show she had no right to participate in other castings). And this time, Jessica's job in New York was limited to one show. But in London, Milan and Paris, she was waiting for a real success. Julien Macdonald, Antonio Berardi, Nicole Farhi, Paul Smith, D & G, Gianfranco Ferre, Emilio Pucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel and Elie Saab - this is not a complete list of shows in which she took part. At the end of the weeks, Clark joined the DNA agency. It is rumored that Calvin Klein is going to sign a contract with Jessica for filming an advertising campaign.
In 2009, Irish Carrie-Anne Barton became the winner of the television model competition The Model Agent, aired on the channel RTE. After the end of the show, the minor model said that from the middle of the season she was ... pregnant. The news came as a surprise not only for her young man, Daryl, but also for The Model Agent’s main agent, Fiona Ellis.
"At first I was afraid to tell Fiona about her pregnancy, but when she found out about her, she supported me. It turns out that many mother-models go to castings with their children," shared Kerry-Ann.
After giving birth in July 2009 (you can read more about them in the Burton interview for the Belfast Telegraph), Carrie-Ann spent six months caring for the child, and in early 2010 she joined the Irish agency Alison Campbell, London-based Tess and even New York Ford. Prior to the September shows, Barton participated in the Central Saint Martins graduation show and presentation of the Jonathan Saunders Resort 2011 collection. At the New York fashion week, an Irish woman with porcelain skin and pitch black hair participated in Altuzarra and Zero + Maria Cornejo shows in London debuted on Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Sustainable and Michael Van Der Ham. After five shows, Carrie-Anne Barton made the list of the 30 most promising newcomers to the SS 2011 season, according to the All About Models blog.
