Spring cleaning: How to prepare a wardrobe for the summer

The cold is gradually receding, and this means that soon both sweaters and woolen coats will give way to light trench coats and dresses in the closet. We tell how to make room in the wardrobe for light things and what to do with clothes that are not useful in the next six months. It is worth remembering that proper care will not only prolong the life of your favorite things, but also help the planet, which already suffers from over-production.

Footwear

First, inspect the shoes. Warm leather shoes and boots can be cleaned on their own or taken to the workshop - there they will replace taps and fix minor defects. After that, shoes are better to put in the boxes, and insert shoes into pairs of thin leather so that no creases or cracks appear.

In no case do not dry the shoes on the battery - it does not benefit either the skin, or suede, or fabric. If you already undertook a thorough analysis, it is better to suffer a little longer and wait until the shoes dry out on their own, otherwise you may regret to find cracked skin in six months or spots of high temperature.

Sneakers that you do not plan to wear in the near future should be carefully cleaned. Kits for this can be found in most specialty stores or limited to soap and an old toothbrush.

The models of sneakers from the mesh and fabric will survive the machine wash - first pull out the laces and insoles from them, and place the shoes in the mesh bag. And another thing: before putting the shoes that have seen a lot of shoes in the box, it is better to treat it with a special spray against odor.

Sweaters

We advise you to entrust expensive cashmere clothes and woolen coats to dry-cleaning: after home washing, they can be covered with pellets or sit down. Things from dense wool and models of large knitting can be washed by hand in cold water; Pay attention to the label - some models can be washed in the machine on the correct mode. After that, remove the pellets with a special gadget, and Google or the nearest dry cleaner will help with puffs and loops.

Thin wool is best washed, turned inside out - it will save from those very little pellets. It is best to dry sweaters and cardigans from wool, gently spread them out - so the thing will not stretch. Even if you are planning to wear sweaters in the summer, it is better to do so in order to prepare for the new season in general. It will be pleasant to realize that all the necessary things have been washed, and unnecessary things have been removed.

It is best of all to keep thin items of wool and synthetics folded flat: on a hanger, your favorite sweater can stretch out or be deformed in the shoulder area. Wool outerwear such as a coat and duffle coat requires careful care: in the nearest studio or hardware store you can buy breathable covers for storing outer clothing; It is better to place the packaged outerwear in a loose closed cabinet, where it will be provided with air circulation.

Outerwear

Parks and down jackets can be washed in a typewriter - provided that the label does not indicate a different method of cleaning. Unfasten all removable parts beforehand and put them in a separate bag. Fur fringe can not be washed. To keep the downy or synthetic filling of the jacket from wrinkling, you can throw tennis balls or special balls into the typewriter.

It is best to dry the down jacket on a plastic hanger, occasionally beating the fluff - so it will be evenly distributed after washing; machine drying will help, if you have access to it, the main thing is to choose the right temperature. It is very important to dry the down jacket thoroughly: if you hang a damp jacket in the closet, the filler may start to rot.

Fur coats made of artificial and natural fur are better attributed to a proven dry cleaner. But artificial fur can be stored in vacuum packaging, which does not take up much space - this material is least of all crushed and deformed. Fur coats made of natural fur are best kept in covers and not hung on rigid hangers - the material is erased from them, and the natural curl is broken.

To protect outerwear from moths, hang lavender bags, mothballs, or use special chemicals on hangers.

Scarves and caps

For storing scarves, hats, gloves and other small items, plastic and cardboard boxes of rigid form will fit - hats in them will not be deformed and will not be lost on distant shelves.

Long and wide scarves can be placed on hangers with crossbars (for example, on the same ones where coats and fur coats hang) or rolled up into rolls - in this way wool will not wrinkle.

How to organize a cabinet

Plastic containers, hangers, hangers and pads for shoes can be found in any economic - or in the same IKEA. Sticky rollers, machines for wool and brushes are looking for in specialized stores, mass-market stores like H & M and hardware stores. We advise you to look into the nearest shop for repairing things - here you will also find all the necessary items.

If there is too little space in the closet, and during the winter you managed to acquire several new changes of outerwear, you can put some warm clothes in empty suitcases. They are also convenient to store spare pillows, blankets and bags.

If you are used to pulling one or two of your favorite T-shirts out of the pile, and you don’t reach the bottom items, try folding the jersey in rolls or sideways to see every thing. You wonder how much more is waiting for you in the closet.

Replace hangers. From the iron shoulders, which are issued in dry cleaners, thin fabrics stretch, and heavy things like jeans and jackets they just can not stand. The easiest way to buy the same hangers is that even visually solid coat hangers will look better.

Remember zoning. On a rail, store things in a row - a jacket and a jacket, T-shirts - as a unit, trousers - on the same hangers as the suit tops that fit them. Save time on fees and will not seek out your favorite top in a mountain of jeans.

Change of seasons is a good opportunity to make out the wardrobe. It is possible that with decent things that were boring during the winter, the easiest thing would be to part on a friendly swap (here there is a chance to find something new for spring and summer).
