Men about why they are painted and do not hide it

The conviction that men are ashamed to use cosmetics, morally obsolete and generally does more harm than good. This is not only about caring things (most people are used to washing and moisturizing the skin little by little), but also about make-up: we are sure that anyone can wear it regardless of appearance and sex - if he wants. The fact that such expression is possible even in modern Russia, we have no doubt, although we understand what is fraught with the desire to change the appearance in their own way, and not to please others. More information about all the pitfalls and the charms of makeup, we were asked to tell men who love to be painted no less than ours.

I dress and act like androgynous, so the decision to start using cosmetics was quite natural for me: I’ve been using various personal care products for a long time, especially hair, I often asked my girlfriends for advice, I sometimes borrowed something from them for fun or for some photo project, well, in the end, just decided to start their own funds.

Azam was taught by my friends, plus I already had some ideas in my head. My favorite and basic tools are foundation and black eyeliner. My skin is very light and very sensitive, so I had to look for the tonalnik, but in the end I was lucky - I found one that gives not only a smooth tone, but also a soothing feeling on the skin.

I love the eyeliner for being an incredibly flexible tool. I really like drawing arrows, I experiment a lot with how different versions of arrows change the shape of the eyes and facial expression. If you have time and mood, you can also add shadows, I prefer in addition to the usual black and blue shades. Actually, in cosmetics I like most of all the opportunity to manipulate the fine details of my appearance, to create an image, paying attention to all the details.

I have a rather comfortable lifestyle: I work from home, I communicate with adequate people, so I don’t often meet with the reaction of others. They react rather to my whole image, not just makeup. With surprise, of course. But if I went to work in the office now, I think I would use a tonal crown and use a brown pencil to draw small arrows in the outer corner of the eyes.

It seems everyone is facing problems of transitional age. Then I started painting and started. Because, although it is sad, but to buy a quality tone is cheaper than eating right. Many guys use tonalnik, most people don’t talk about it. In general, I am painted years from 15-16. Before that, with the help of cosmetics, you can not only hide flaws, I thought about 17. At the age of 17. Well, you know, correctly painted eyebrows - and once, you already sell alcohol without a passport.

Now I am twenty, and last year I graduated from a makeup artist. It is very interesting - you do everything as a plastic surgeon, but not so expensive and bloody. And it is possible for the same person to do radically different images.

From obvious accents on myself, I like graphic eyebrows: it looks funny, but not always appropriate, so for everyday life I do not use anything unusual and bright. In general, I like grunge and skinny faces like Kate Moss. Most often, I use MAC cosmetics both for myself and for models, because I am completely satisfied with their quality. More in favorite brands INGLOT and Korean cosmetics such as Tony Moly. I don’t follow the novelties of the industry, but sometimes I look at beauty bloggers Elena Krygina, Kate Klapp and Sonya Yesman, they talk about many interesting things.

The first time I did my makeup at 14 years old - it was interesting to try how it would look. As far as I remember, I tried to mask the post-acne, I began to create a radically new image of myself a year later. I did not have extra funds, so I had to order crazy palettes of shadows in 100 colors for 500 rubles each from China. Now I use different brands: NARS, MUFE, D & G, NYX, Smashbox.

From the explicit make-up I like wide and graphic arrows, I often paint them myself when we go to a club or bar with friends. Despite my Caucasian appearance, I have an almond-shaped eye slit, so it looks very impressive. And, of course, I love contouring, and this, in comparison with which, Elena Krygina’s lesson seems to be an ordinary day make-up (with club lighting everything looks natural). In general, I like absolutely any makeup, the main thing is that the one who wears liked him.

Among my favorite products is MAC Cream Color Base Pearl, I almost can’t live without it, really one of the best highlighters. Also, Dolce & Gabbana blush in a Tan shade is the best sculpturing powder, it suits the tone of the skin of almost any person and does not have a rose. And the eyebrow gel "Art-Visage" began to use four years ago, I still consider it the best.

Makeup always hit my face with a light female hand, so it was. My friends think that this suits me, but I have never done this myself. It all started about five years ago with my passion for Marilyn Manson, and, choosing a convenient excuse like Halloween, I appeared in the new image before the light, then, I remember, I almost collapsed on Bolotnaya, that was how good it was, and what while striking a traffic police officer with black peeling nails, handing him documents.

I think that makeup for a man is appropriate for a stage image, or a pho fan, as they say. In everyday life, it’s still, rather, a surplus for me, I wouldn’t have to spend time on it before going out. I usually do not paint.

Once a friend made me up like a Gypsy woman, I don’t remember what was originally intended, but it turned out that way. I myself like the slightly smeared black pencil under the eyes, rock-n-roll and gothic music, and the Gypsy motifs are in general, if an opportunity comes out. Not so often this happens to get your favorite tools and brands in this matter.

Gevorg

22 years old, makeup artist

I began to paint myself a year ago: I thought it was not the case that I was making my clients more beautiful, and I myself walked with bruises under my eyes or an uneven tone. I also began to work actively and sleep a little, and it was already very unpleasant for me to look at my face, it looked painful.

I believe that make-up is a kind of set-up accessory and a way of protection. With the help of make-up, you can spoil yourself (if you illiterately pick it up), and improve and modify it. I like to mix styles and images, I often go to parties, clubs, and there I paint to the full. Why? Because I so want. I do not think on the system "cosmetics - a woman, pants - a man."

I was lucky, I work as a makeup artist and I have a lot of cosmetics. I love the underground cosmetic brands, but unfortunately, getting them in Russia for an adequate price is very difficult, so I use what can be found in chain stores. My everyday makeup is the tone, sculpting blush, powder. Recently, in love with SS-cream Chanel, I like everything in it: perfume, natural and natural coating. I love Dolce & Gabbana Tan blush - my most neutral and lightweight “sculptor” for a face, I can't live without it. And recently, Essence eyebrow gel has been liked: a light non-sticky fixation, which is necessary for my eyebrows. In general, I can talk about cosmetics and favorite products in different brands for a very long time.

Ideally, I would like to use a la grunge and new age makeup every day: perfect skin, unusual textures and make-up patterns on the face, etc. I often paint at parties and events in this style. But in the afternoon I rarely go that way, because I want to stay alive more than be beautiful. In general, I have the impression that looking beautiful in Russia is considered a sin. I hope someday this will change and people will be able to look the way they feel comfortable.

Oleg Ilyin

25 years old, makeup artist

I started painting in the first year of university, then I used the L'Oréal foundation, which didn’t suit me at all in color (I was a little shy to buy tonal in stores). What I wanted people to think about was thinking that I was of a different orientation. Although I was always hetero, I enjoyed it and liked to look interesting. It was funny when people noticed the makeup on my face and asked why I was doing it.

Much depends on makeup. Surrounding people even behave differently when they are made up (checked personally for my long experience as a makeup artist) - as if you change clothes into a doctor in any person, he will tend to act like a doctor. With make-up, people can be more confident, complexes can go into the background. Although in fact it is all just paint on the face, the mood can drastically change from a reflection in the mirror.

On myself I like black Smokey Ays, with feathers in brown and beige. But I start to grow out of this image and often prefer to be painted naturally. I was changed by travels, in them I changed my mind about many things and realized that people will love you without cosmetics on their face, the main thing is to be one and the same person. Makeup can serve as a kind of mask, but I gradually get rid of it. Although all the same I use the foundation around the eyes, emphasize eyebrows and put on blush every day, because without it I feel discomfort.
