5 diary applications

Marina Ivanova

Do not assume that the diary - is fun for girls who have not grown out of primary school age. Psychologists say that by regularly recording our own experiences, we put them on the shelves - and from the seemingly scattered records, a quite clear list of goals and plans for the future can be formed. To diary brought practical benefits, you need to keep it regularly. One of the main methods is to do it early in the morning, with a fresh mind, and write at least 750 words (this is a lot). We understand that the majority of such feats are not ready, and therefore have compiled a list of five ideal applications that will allow keeping a diary anytime, anywhere.

First of all, Grid Diary offers to turn the screen over to make it easier to write, and then it gives you the opportunity to choose the questions you need to answer every day (What did you have? I did today? - and more approximately 100 questions from different spheres of life, including health, work, relationships, and so on). Questions, of course, can be displayed daily in a random order, and in general they can be exchanged for their own. The application allows you to search for records, store them in iCloud (although there is no application for iPad yet). To always have the archive at hand, you can upload it in PDF format. In addition, Grid Diary has a minimalistic design and pleasant sound effects, which, in combination with the main feature - questions - makes it the main competitor of Day One, which is discussed below.

A simple and cute notebook immediately received wide recognition and entered the list of the best applications of 2012. Day One is intuitive, you don’t have to dig through the settings to figure out how to tag and add photos. The application works on all devices from Apple, automatically synchronizing over iCloud. You can add entries to your favorites, set geotags, download entries in PDF or even send to twitter. You can put a password. You can select the font and its size and set reminders to write daily. Updates of the version are published regularly, and for the year, tags, search, and photos were added to the usual Twitter-style notebook. If you like the design without vignettes and other things, as well as if you do not need leading questions to describe your day, you should definitely download Day One.

An obvious clone of Day One, but then five times cheaper. Ordinary Days is also decorated in a gray-white-blue and in the same minimalist style, so that it immediately becomes obvious what the developers were inspired by. However, the application does not become worse from this and has the same functions as Day One. Entries here are divided into three types: regular posts, quotes and to-do-list. You can see them in one tape, and can be displayed on the screen separately. There is a search, the ability to add photos and export the diary to PDF. Here, too, the fonts, the size, the space between the lines and the color scheme are configured: you can customize a soft pink, or you can have a strict blue, in the style of Facebook. Overall, a great option for the budget conscious.

If the words “minimalistic design” do not arouse bliss in you, download Momento. In addition to regular entries, the application allows you to upload your feeds from other accounts and link to Twitter, instagram and facebook with your personal diary. For those who like to sometimes watch, what he did and what he thought a year ago, this is an irreplaceable function: Memolane, the only service that allowed us to build such a timeline of past recordings, closed last year due to unprofitability. Otherwise, Momento can do everything the same as the other listed applications: it can make a backup and send it to your computer, it can set a password, change fonts and so on. Of the unusual (but not more relevant) functions, the ability to mark a person from contacts in the entry, the ability to add geotags, or simply mark an important event in the entry.

If you keep a diary only for yourself there is not enough motivation and you still want to show it to someone, download the Path. Make all his girlfriends install it: even if at first they don’t express their enthusiasm for your initiative, the ideal beauty interface with vignettes, sound effects and the ability to fumble records only with selected contacts has not left any girl indifferent. The application allows you to write ordinary notes, comment and leave emotions under others, share music and quotes, post photos and check in. Some like to share in detail the moments of going to bed and waking up with a ribbon (there is a special button in the Path for this), but perhaps it’s not worth taking an example from them. In general, Path is a very nice asocial network (on average, the user has 15–20 contacts, more often less), and it is truly incomprehensible why she did not deserve wide recognition from the public.
