Trouser velvet suit: Holiday every day
TELLING ABOUT TRENDS FROM PODIUM which can be adapted for your wardrobe for the next six months. In the new issue of the rubric we find out how velvet has become the most fashionable material of the season, and the costumes from it filled the catwalk.
How it all began
It would seem that velvet is familiar to everyone - especially by touch. In fact, there are a great many types of this material: for example, Genoa is used for upholstering furniture, and few can distinguish it, say, from brocade. Velvet with high pile is called plush, and with a short and dense velor. It turns out that all the costumes Juicy Couture, in fact, also made of velvet.
Disputes about who invented it first, are still ongoing. Most agree that the technique of manufacturing was invented in China, and it reached Europe at the end of the 13th century. Things from velvet reached the peak of popularity in the Renaissance, at the end of the XIV - beginning of the XVI centuries. Naturally, the material for that time was unusually expensive: only monarchs, aristocrats and high-ranking clergymen could afford to wear such a fabric. It is curious that at first things from velvet were the privilege of only men.
In modern history, velvet also has its place - this is one of the most popular materials of the modern era at the beginning of the 20th century. Later they began to use it as a basis for evening dresses: designers and visionaries of their time like Cristobal Balenciaga and Madeleine Vionne made their coats and dresses from him. A lot of time has passed since then, but so far, thanks to the specific texture, velvet is enveloped in a veil of luxury and elegance. Nevertheless, designers continue to create more everyday things out of it. One of these - velvet suit with consistently wide trousers.
How velvet came back into fashion
Since the beginning of zero velvet with enviable regularity appears in the lists of the main trends for the season autumn-winter. Deep colors and dense texture make it ideal for a cold and dark season. This season, designers are so fascinated with velvet that they have shown how to wear it in everyday life, presenting clothes from it down to down jackets, bags and gloves. The main course is still the course on near-sports and strict velvet suits, which are combined with T-shirts and blouses. Stamps offer to wear them every day, and not just for a special occasion.
The name Demny Gvasalia became a parable in every town, but it would be dishonest to lower the influence of this designer. In the fall-winter collection, his velvet suit of deep wine color is not at all like typical Vetements models: no asymmetry, too long sleeves or sports elements. This can even be imagined on a man who prefers a feminine classic in the spirit of Gucci under Tom Ford. Another relatively strict suit of the same color could be seen at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show. Their similarity is difficult not to notice, although the second is combined with a leather corset and turtleneck.
In Stella McCartney and Alberta Ferretti suits, the most remarkable is the top: the first is inspired by a men's jacket, in which the velvet fabric is combined with transparent silk, and the second is made as a short dressing gown with a soft line of shoulders. Hyder Ackermann is another designer who regularly shows velvet in his collections. His current one is not an exception: a blood-red suit on a naked body is an example of how a provocative outfit can look in the spirit of the times in 2016. Lacoste and Opening Ceremony were diametrically opposed, whose costumes were inspired by sports equipment: comfortable and relaxed, they are reminiscent of the zero fashion.
What to wear
Thanks to the fashion for huge down jackets and coats, velvet suits are now comfortable to wear even in winter - the benefit of the volume top easily accommodates them. In order to reduce the degree of solemnity, a suit with a strict jacket can be combined with sneakers and Cossacks, and instead of a blouse, choose a neutral T-shirt with a slogan or a picture of your favorite group.
Velvet suits, perhaps, one of the most convenient options for any holiday, including the upcoming. If you want to make the image as elegant as possible, the costume can be combined with a transparent top and a Victorian shirt, and you can decorate your hair with hairpins with a scattering of stones. Now you can find one in any store of the mass market, however, you should not forget that the quality will be several times lower than the more expensive options. In any case, you should always keep the cleaning roller for clothes ready.
