Models who started their careers after 25 years

As you know, the standard age for the start of a model career is thirteen to fifteen years, and seriously, the girls are taken to work after graduation. But there are exceptions everywhere: some models signed contracts under the supervision of parents at the age of twelve and forgot about school, while others, on the contrary, went to the decision to start a career or, by happy coincidence, started it, crossing the 20-year threshold. Oddly enough, the latter is becoming more. Girls over the age of twenty-five not only make more shows and editorials, but also take the places of 16-year-old muses designers of past years. Look At Me decided to recall five girls who managed to start or renew their careers at an advanced age for the model.

Saskia de Brau

Age: 31

Roughly speaking, Saskia de Brau met with the modeling business before twenty-five: a scout from an Amsterdam agency noticed a girl in a tram when she was only fourteen. Then, in 1996, her career developed well, she even managed to withdraw for Vogue. However, two years later, Saskia lost interest in this and decided to focus on art: after finishing her studies, she went to work as a teacher.

Many years later, Saskia remembered her unsuccessful attempts to build a career in her youth. The Paparazzi agency decided to give a second chance to a 29-year-old girl at that time - and it was not mistaken. The Netherlands with chiseled features liked the Parisian bookers at the castings for the next shows, and after shooting for the last cover of the French Vogue under the guidance of Karin Roitfeld it was difficult to go unnoticed. The girl had a special relationship with Ricardo Tishi: Givenchy’s chief designer invited her to take part in each show several seasons in a row, until finally she made her face the brand’s spring-summer campaign. The same result appealed to the affection for the model of Karl Lagerfeld: together with Joan Smalls, she replaced Frey Behu Eriksen in an advertisement for Chanel.

Leah Ti

Age: 30

The story of Lea Ti, born Leonardo Cerezo, is known to many. The son of the famous Brazilian footballer Toninho Cerezo did not show any interest in any transformations in appearance, and even more so in gender reassignment operations before he went to study in Italy. There he could not understand himself for a long time, until he met Ricardo Tishi, with whom Leah helped find a place in life. After a number of transformations, Lea began working as an assistant to the designer and finally joined the Givenchy family.

In 2008, Ricardo offered the 27-year-old Lea to film for the brand’s campaign, and then to take part in the presentation of the couture collection and go to the show. Now that her name has thundered all over the world, French and British Vogue, The Guardian and dozens of bloggers are interested in the model's history. Later she continued to participate in the Givenchy show and often starred for magazines. Her most famous photo to date is a kiss with Kate Moss for Love cover. This year, nothing is heard from Lea, which is not surprising, since at the beginning of her career she told about intentions to go to Milan and study veterinary medicine.

Kati Nesher

Age: 27

Born in Russia, but being a teenager, Kati Nesher, who moved to Germany, took the initiative and turned to the agent. Starting a career at twenty-seven years was difficult, in reality everything turned out not to be the way the girl imagined, and for a while she stopped trying. Kati continued to work as a Russian-German translator, study at the university and take care of her two-year-old son.

Six months after the failed attempt, one makeup artist advised her to try again. She sent her photos to the agent, and that was enough to sign a contract with Viva. Career developed rapidly. After her debut at the fashion shows, Kati made a good season in the main fashion weeks. And after a while she starred for the campaign Louis Vuitton, along with Daria Strokous, which finally secured her the status of a rising star. Because of her son Katie, it is not easy to devote a lot of time to working as a model, but the girl who repeated the fate of Arizona Mews continues to act for magazines and go to shows.

Emelin Valad

Age: 27

Like Saskia de Brau, Emelin Valad went to work as a model not with the first sentence. At twenty-three years in Paris, she was an intern at a communications agency located not far from a modeling agency. Several times she was offered a job, and in the end she agreed. However, the internship was over, and, having managed to take a few pictures, Emelin decided that the modeling business was not her.

However, Emelin was contracted to Women, so she continued to work. In 2010, a breakthrough happened in her career: she walked on Balenciaga and became the face of Alexander Wang. The work became more and more, and the model made itself felt every week, having appeared for a regular cover, and once again worked with Karl Lagerfeld. Especially well the situation has developed during the shows: the model has practically become a symbol of the main Fashion Weeks. If in the FW 2011 season she opened Alexander Wang, Etro and Louis Vuitton and closed Rick Owens, Loewe and Chloe, then there are no points to list dozens of open and closed shows next season.

Marie Piavezan

Age: 26

Marie Piavezan seriously embarked on a career quite recently: she had previously been filmed solely for the sake of earning. After graduating from the study of art and archeology, she thought about a modeling career of twenty-five years.

Marie made her way to glory through Celine: she first opened the brand’s show six months ago, then starred for the book, and then became the face of the campaign with Stella Tennant. Having recorded in several major publications, Piavezan made fifty shows in February and March at this year's shows. The day she closed the Louis Vuitton show in Paris (which Kate Moss had done the previous two times), Marie was twenty-six years old.
