Unreal beautiful: Famous men before and after photoshop
We write a lot about the current the striving of society for a single standard of beauty - and that new times are coming when this tradition finally begins to disappear. And although the “beautifully ugly” dichotomy gradually (but inevitably) gives way to love and respect for the wonderful diversity of human appearance, the media and pop culture still continue to hold on to their notions that “ideal people” must exist and to look like.
It is believed that women suffer the most from these stereotypes: advertisements, fashion shoots and even models in online stores intrusively hint to us that a beautiful woman is the holder of the standard 90-60-90, long legs, mane of hair and flawless skin, often "improved" by retouchers to an unbelievable look. However, if we look closer, we find that men also get from Photoshop - it's just believed that they are less worried about their appearance. We collected a few vivid examples of how retouchers decided to "decorate" already beautiful and famous men to their own taste, and found their "real" photos taken at the same time.

Their editors, of course, contributed to the fact that the men of the planet were divided into two camps: those who spend all their free time in a fitness club in pursuit of dice, and those who do not care about it. However, balanced exercise complexes and a healthy diet - zilch next to the power of photoshop in the hands of the master. The 2014 Men's Health cover perfectly confirms this, and the "Get back in shape!" next to Matt Damon looks ridiculous: the actor has not looked like that for a long time.

In 2011, Johnny Depp inevitably approached his fiftieth birthday, but millions of fans around the world, and Vanity Fair photo editors refused to believe in it. I do not want to insinuate, but it seems that Depp himself too - at about the same time he stopped appearing in public without glasses with slightly tinted lenses that hide the wrinkles around the eyes. In the picture on the cover, where he was practically saved from his age, you can also learn the basics of sculpture in make-up. Is it worth it to start talking about the "Johnny demons" with a face-facelift - a good question.

Yes, suppose he has not the most aristocratic appearance but the light, but we believe that it was possible to shove him into the cover format in a more elegant way. So what happened to the photo edition of the main world magazine for gentlemen? What is it all about? Amazing finding of the photographer in terms of perspective or Channing re-pasted the head from another picture, after smoothing over the asymmetry of the face and not especially taking care of the proportions? Be that as it may, the work with the actor’s appearance on this cover is impressive.

One of the most courageous and elegant men in the world, Clive Owen did not become our perfect James Bond, but in 2007 he received a mission not less important - to teach men of the planet not just to use cream, but also anti-aging. Having become the face of Lancôme, Owen immediately fell under the knife (or rather, under the iron) of the retoucher: we never saw his smooth face so smooth. Tom Cruise is the male equivalent of the beautiful term “film star”, one of the few: he really looks great in his 52, clearly devotes a lot of time to this and still looks great in the genre cinema. And now try to find it on the cover of W magazine, dedicated to the release of the movie "Rock for the Ages." To play in this movie-musical and so it was not the most brilliant idea (the film failed miserably at the box office), but for some reason the retouchers decided that the aged rock star reference model is not nobly wrinkled Steven Tyler and Keith Richards, but young Jared Leto. The original name of the film "Rock of Ages" looks particularly ironic in this context.

A couple of months ago, the world exploded with the headlines "Baby Gosling" - but they were a few years late: baby Gosling - this is what we see on the cover of the Studio Ciné Live film magazine, and this is not even gloss. This picture was sold in hundreds of editions in the world, but the French did it especially reverently: the baby’s skin, exuding an unearthly glow (and, we think, fragrance), is an indispensable attribute of the most desirable man of the planet at that time.

2007 was not the most successful year for the former first racket of the world, tennis player Andy Roddick: he had a number of defeats from Roger Federer. Men's Fitness magazine decided to encourage the athlete in a specific way: he put it on the cover, and at the same time he doubled his biceps and erased the birthmark. Roddick responded openly in response that "he does not look that way," becoming Kira Knightley of his time.

We do not go to the cinema "on the exterior", as some people think for some reason, we go to talent. None of the movie stars are obliged to keep our face and body safe and sound, "justifying" any expectations or confirming the illusion that the great ones are not aging. Yes, sometimes it is necessary to pronounce such platitudes, because attempts to transform a brilliant actor into his youthful version invariably lead to a catastrophe.
