Treads Forever: Rehab High Boots

TELLING ABOUT TRENDS FROM PODIUMwhich can be adapted for your wardrobe for the next six months. With the onset of cold weather, it becomes clear that one pair of favorite white sneakers can not do. For those who are faced with the choice of a new autumn pair of shoes, we decided to talk about boots - boots that have lost contradictory connotations and have become the same constant of the autumn-winter season as a coat, hat or gloves.

How it all began

Boots above the knee have more than four hundred years of history. At first, they were part of military equipment, and in the form in which they exist now, they appeared in the middle of the century. While the skirts were getting shorter, the boots were getting higher. In the early 60s, Balenciaga released a pair of boots together with shoemaker René Mancini, destroying the stereotype of boots as an exclusively utilitarian shoe. In 1963, they were also shown by Yves Saint-Laurent - a model with a narrow toe and a small heel, which can be easily represented in stores today. Futurism, dreams of space, hippie style influenced the look of the time, and boots and boots as well. So, they were made from vinyl, plastic, metallized leather and suede.

By the beginning of the 70s, general madness at the boots reached its apogee. High boots have ceased to be the lot of the "chosen", that is, models and celebrities, and they began to wear everything in a row. By the end of the 70s and all the 80th boots remained only as an attribute of subcultures. In such boots, for example, singer Debbie Harry, the leader of the Blondie group, performed.

They will return in the early 90s. The famous image of Julia Roberts in the movie "Pretty Woman" is familiar even to those who are not interested in movies or fashion: a white T-shirt, short shorts and lacque jack boots have become just as much a time as denim overalls. In the middle of the decade, catwalk boots appeared in the Versace collections. So, the image of exploiting showy sexuality was finally attached to the brand. Similarly today Balmain do the same, which show the boots from season to season, choosing the role models of the Kardashian sisters for themselves.

How the boots came back into fashion

Treads passed through the controversial 2000s, appearing among various designers: from the propagandists of “calm femininity” Phoebe Faylo and Stella McCartney, who combined stockings with simple clothes, to Peter Dundas (then designer Emilio Pucci), who experimented in every way with her heritage brands and 60s.

Today the boots issue all the advanced brands. The head of Vetements Demna Gvasalia suggests wearing them not only for girls, but also for guys. High boots became the hallmark of his personal brand and remain them in Balenciaga, where Demna holds the post of creative director. In addition to those mentioned, in the autumn-winter season, the treads appeared in MSGM, Fendi, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini and many others. Today, most designers advocate for practicality and offer boots either on a flat sole (exceptions, however, also occur), or on a small steady heel. Now the boots are sold in any mass market: vinyl or traditional smooth leather, with fringe or embroidery, like y, sorry, the same Vetements.

What to wear them with

It is unlikely that we will discover something new, saying that they look more advantageous with calm things. This does not mean that boots should not be worn, for example, with mini-skirts. In such a case, try to balance the proportions and choose giant sweaters, coats and hoodies as the top. With things of a deliberately large size, stocking boots and coarse pairs, similar to fishing ones, look equally interesting.

The combination in the spirit of the time - boots together with a coat or dresses to the middle of the calf. This, for example, can be seen in the Isabel Marant pre-autumn lookbook. At the same time, contrasting textures look most interesting: for example, metallized boots and satin dress, matte leather boots and a wool coat.
